Mrs. Sim Roobal has return- ed home after being a patient in South Huron Hospital, Visitors at Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm 's were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cough- lin, Debby and Paul, of Ford- wich, Mr. and Mrs. Desmond Ivey, of Sarnia, with Mrs. Daisy Ivey, Mr. Lorne Finlay- son of Staffa and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Taylor of Varna with Mrs. Elizabeth Volland. The Taylors have just returned from two weeks vacation in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Chip - chase and Jeffrey returned to Roanoke, Va. after visiting with their families in Hensall. SALES BARN Supply consisted mainly of heifers and steers. Demand was active and prices were up. Fat cattle $48. Heifers $42.; Steers $42.50 .- $50.; Feeder cattle $37.50-$42.50. Pigs Weiners, up to $47. Chunks $48 - $58.55. Rev. Don Beck was in charge of the United Church service with Mrs. John Turk- heim at the organ. The choir sang "Who is on the Lord's Side?" and the topic of the sermon was "Just Talk." , UNIT IV OF U.C.W. Unit IV of Hensall U.C.W. niet on September 4 with 32 members and visitors present. The meeting began with a pot -luck dinner convened by Mrs. Laird Mickle. Mrs. Albert Alexander gave the devotional, hymns were sung and the history of each giv- en. She opened with Psalm 24 and closed with prayer. Mrs. Albert Shirray gave a dis- course on the Abstract and the concrete, followed with a poem "September" and play- ed "Somewhere My Love. Mrs. J. McAllister read "Heart Gifts," A sing -song of old familiar hymns were conducted by Mrs. Mickle and Mrs. Tom Sherritt at the piano. The collection was ded- icated by Mrs. McAllister. The treasurers report was given. Leaders for the 4-H Girls Club "Let's Bake Bread" have been found. Mrs. Cecil Pepper, Mrs. Bill Fuss, and Mrs. Jack Simmons will attend Training School on September 22 and 23. HENSALL U.C.W. CI Unit II of Hensall U.C.W. met on September 8, 19-75 with Lorna Chapman in the chair and Brenda Pepper at the piano. Thirteen memb- ers and two guests were present. Peg Forrest gave the devotional on the theme "Hasty in judgement." Guest speaker, Mrs. Mabel Shirray gave a most interesting ac- count of her .trip to England and Scotland. Mary Goodwin gave the study, telling of the life of a sinal town U.C. minister in Matheson, Ontario taken from the U.C. Observer. Business was conducted by Grace Drummond consist- ed of arrangements for the UCW general meeting on October 6 and notification of the regional meeting to be held at Crediton on October 15. It was moved to make Christmas favors at the Nov- ember meeting which will open with a pot -luck supper, each member to bring a guest. Final arrangements were made to assist with the catering for the wedding on Saturday. Lorna thanked everyone who had assisted with the meeting and a tasty lunch was served by the hostesses, Beatrice Richard- son and Joyce Pepper. Many Hensall and area residents attended the beef barbecue held at the Pine - ridge Chalet on Monday, September 8, when Bob Nixon visited the area, arriving by bus and leaving by helicopter. The Women's Missionary Society of Carmel Presbyt- erian Church was held on Monday evening with the president, Mrs. Harvey Hyde presiding and opened the meeting with a reading entitl- ed "Rural Serenity." Mrs. Ruby Hoggarth was in charge of the Devotional "Good Sam- aritans" dealing with "Educ- ation and Medicines in the Mission Fields. There was a brief review of church missionaries work- ing in Japan. The Presbyterial Rally will be held in Goderich October 8. The next regular meeting will be held Octob- er 6, at 8 p.m. The Ladies Aid meeting followed with Mrs. Clarence Volland prsiding. Arrange- ments were made to hold a Bazaar in November. Renov- ations are under way to the basement of the church.
