Celebrates 100th birthday

Mrs. Jean McKinley
celebrated her 100th birthday
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Scotchmer, where she
resides at R.R.3, Bayfield on
Saturday, August 23.
Mrs. McKinley was born in
McKillop Township, north of
Seaforth, and is a daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. John
Campbell. She received her
elementary education at
S.S.4, McKillop, attended
high school in Seaforth
and Model School in Mitchell.
She began her teaching
career on August 1, 1896,
at R.R.3, Stanley, Front Road
School, where she taught for
three years. She also taught
in several Huron County

The former Jean Campbell
married Robert McKinley
in 1911 and for many years
the couple farmed on the
Goshen Line. She has a fam-
ily of two children, Campbell
McKinley, who resides on•the
home farm and Margaret,
Mrs. Jack Scotchmer, R.R.3,
Bayfield. She is the grand-
mother of Robert N. McKinley
of Zurich, the son of Camp-
bell; and Raymond, of Bay-
field; Ronald and Mrs. Jim
(Lynda) Collins, both of
Mitchell, the children of
Margaret. She is also the
proud great grandmother of 11
grandchildren.
Mrs. McKinley enjoys
fairly good health, and enj-
oys her grandchildren, great-
grandchildren and young
people in general. Her family
members were all on hand
to celebrate her birthday
with her, along with friends,
who called to offer best
wishes. She was the recipient
of numerous cards, flowers
and congratulatory messages
from Queen Elizabeth,
Prime Minister Pierre Trud-
eau; Robert Stanfield, Will-
iam Davis, R.E. McKinley,MP
and Jack RFiddell, MPP.
Mrs. McKinley attributes
her longevity to clean living.
She is a delightful lady and
takes an interest in every-
thing. She reminisced of her
teaching days, which she

Approximately sixty
people attended the annual
Pfaff-Oesch reunion held at
Crediton Community Park.
An enjoyable program of
sports was prepared by Mrs.
Nelson Schenk.
