MR. AND MRS. HUBERT E. THIEL
Mary Caroline Kennedy and Hubert' Earl Thiel were united
in marriage August 8, in St. Marys Presbyterian Church,
with Rev. V. Troyer officiating. Mary is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kennedy, Thorndale, Ontario. Hubert
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Thiel, Zurich. Miss Judith
Trafelet was maid of honour and Mr. Kenneth Thiel was
best man. The couple are now residing near Zurich after
a honeymoon to the east coast.

The Clinton Christian Ref-
orm Church formed a choir
to provide the music for the
Sunday evening song service
led by Mr. Dick Roorda.
Mrs. Bean of Goderich was
welcomed to the Horne at
Monday afternoons activit-
ies. Marie Flynn and Norman
Speir .provided the old tyrne
music and led the sing song
with step dance numbers by
Debbie Flynn. Mrs. Elsie
Henderson accompanied
Nelson Lear and Morgan
Dalton with vocal solos.
The Brussels Legion Pipe
Band entertained on "Family
Night" with a band concert
on the front lawn. The weather
was ideal for the program out-
doors with several taking
advantage of the open wind-
ows on the west side of the
Home.
Carol Erb
leaves for
Afghanistan
Carol Erb, daughter of
Mabel and Gordon H. Erb,
R.R.2, Zurich returned to
Afghanistan at the end of
August. She resumes her work
as secretary to the medical
director of Noor Eye Inst-
itute in Kabul, the capital.
Afghanistan, a landlocked
country in central Asia about
the size of Manitoba, is about
99 percent Moslem. It is bord-
ered by the USSR on the
north, China on the ext-
reme northeast, Pakistan on
the east and south, and Iran
on the west. Mountains and
desert are interspersed by
fertile valleys irrigated by
snow -fed mountain streams.
Miss Erb has served three
years in Afghanistan with
Mennonite Central Commit-
tee and currently works under
the auspices of Menonnite
Board of Missions, Elkhart,
Ind. She is part of the 150 -
person overseas corps work-
ing with the Board of Miss-
ions in 20 countries.
"As I return, I feel almost
like I am going home," Miss
Erb said before her depart-
ure. "I thoroughly enjoyed
my first three years."
She is a graduate of Clinton
Collegiate, Clinton, and a
member of the Blake Mennon-
ite Church, Zurich and Kabul
Community Christian Church.

The successful candidate will assist the administrator
in directing all the day to day activities of the Home,
including residents' well-being, personal care and nurs-

finance, housekeeping, personnel, etc.; will have or be
willing to undertake studies in the field, including
a sound knowledge of Ontario's Homes for the Aged
and Rest Homes Act. Preference will be given to applic-
ants with experience in supervising maintenance of
buildings and in purchasing.
