The address was given by
Mina Talbot, Elva thanked
everyone for thoughtfulness
and appreciation for the
gifts. Lunch was served and
Ann Chapman and Janet
Talbot poured tea.

Mrs. Shirley Pether and
her two children, Mrs, Carol
Des Maris, all of Windsor
visited last week with their
sister and family, Mr, and
Mrs. Jerome Sweeney.
Mrs. Dorothy Adams, of
Toronto, spent the past week
with her sister, Mrs. Mae
Davidson, Zurich.

HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
Mrs. Lloyd Westlake,
chairman of the Bayfield
Canadian Arthritis and Rheu-
matism Society has inform-
ed us that there will not be
the usual cookie sale at the
Bayfield Fall Fair this year
to raise funds. Instead the
Society will be conduct-
ing' a door to door canvass
in the village during the
month of September.

recovery to -Mrs. Tony Hutch-
ings in University Hospital,
London; Mrs. Ag. Cameron,
Clinton Public Hospital' and
Mr. Reg Francis in Victor-
ia Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Erick-
son, Andrew, Luanne and
Lydia arrived home Thursday
evening from a most enjoyable
ten day vacation at Crazy
Horse Campgrounds, Lapeer
Road in Port Huron. The
campgrounds were a delight
in the fact that they were
exceptionally clean, very
restful and full of friendly
people.
Mr. Percy Renner has
informed us that his son
David has been accepted
into the Canadian Coast
Guards. David leaves Bay-
field Saturday, August 30
for Sidney, Nova Scotia, and
for the next seven years will
be studying for his college
education and receiving
practical training in the
Coast Guards.
David is a graduate of
Central Huron Secondary
School in Clinton and receiv-
ed his primary education in
Bayfield and Huron Centen-
nail, Brucefield. Best wishes,
David and every success in
your new life.
Rev. Youmatoff officiated
at the Baptismal of Kyrstie
Alexandrea, infant daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John Pounder
of London on Sunday after-
noon, August 9 at 3 p.m. in
Trinity Anglican Church. God-
mothers were the young aunts
of the baby, Miss Mary Beth
Pounder and Mrs. Cathy
Fisher. Mr. Jay Fisher was
her Godfather. After the cere-
mony the guest who number-
ed more than 30 were entert-
ained to a smorgasbord supp-
er on the lawn at the home
of the baby's grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pounder.

Mrs. Ranney opened her
home on Tuesday evening,

a farewell gathering for Miss
Elva Keys who leaves this
week to attend Tennessee
