Workmen erected the sign, which was produced by Gene Creces, earlier this week. News of Varna Area Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dow - son, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. George Dowson of Hen sall, spent an enjoyable three weeks on a bus trip to the west coast. They took in the Calgary Stampede, visited the National Parks and the Butchart Gardens on Van- couver Island, etc., returning by the northern route through Edmonton and down into the Northern States. Their driver also stopped and pointed out the scene depicted on the back of our hundred dolar bill. Mrs. Roy Elliott is working at Bluewater Pro Hardware in Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ell- iott and baby Erin spent a week visiting relatives in Egmondville and Varna. Mrs. Ross Whittaker enter- tained a number of George's friends on Monday in honour of his seventh birthday. Visiting Mrs. Reta Upshall on Monday were her grand- daughters, Mrs. Harold Monteith and her two child- ren of Ottawa. Mrs. Mary Rudd from Granton and Mr. and Mrs. Donald McKaig of Seaforth also called on her. Mrs. Chester Matlock and son William of Baden are spending thie week with Mrs. Sherlock Keyes and George Mr. and Mrs. Robert Web- ster entertained family memb- ers at a birthday party for her father, Mr. Ben Tinney on Sunday. The Stanley Boys "A" team lost 24-10 against Ben - miller "B" team on Monday, July 31. Last Monday they won 28-7 against Colborne The Stanley Junior Girls lost to Colborne on Tues- day night. Stanley Senior Girls won over Hullett Girls.
