was cancelled after a provin-
cial government announce-
ment that Ontario would not
proceed with either the Lake
Huron or Col. Thomas Talbot
Parkways.
The Warden told council
that the Lake Huron Park-
way Committee made its
presentation to the govern-
ment in late 1973. The gov-
ernment's unfavorable dec-
ision was handed down in the
spring of 1974,
The purpose of the prop-
osed parkway was to develop
the lakeshore from Sarnia
north into a scenic drive
route.
"The conservation author-
ities were given authority
over the lakeshore and small
watersheds into the lake,"
Warden McKinley said. "
They are now in a position
to develop the waterfront."
