Roller hockey action in Zurich

CANUCKS 12 CANADIANS 7
The big gun for the Canucks
was Randy Oke with eight goals.
Canucks took an early 3-0 lead
in the first period. Oke started
the scoring at 7:00 then came
back a minute later and scored
his second of the night. Jeff
O'Brien ended the scoring in
the first period as he came
through at 17:15.
The Canucks came out flying
in the second period scoring
five big goals and holding the
Canadiens to one goal. It only
took a minute and a half for
the Canucks to get going as
Randy McKinnon scored at
1:30. Randy Oke scored again .at
the 5:00 mark. Oke came back
again with his fourth of the
night at 8:00. After this the
Canadiens scored their first goal.
One minute later Randy McKinn-
on scored again for the Canucks.
At 16:30 Randy Oke ended the
second period scoring with his
fifth goal.
The Canucks slackened in the
third as they were held to four
goals while the Canadiens came
on strong To score six goals.
Rick Bedard started the scoring
for the Canadiens at 1:02. Randy
Oke scored for the Canucks
at 2:30. Ron Clark scored his
first goal at the 3 minute mark.
The Canadiens were really flying
now as Pat Bedard scored at
4:50 and Rick Bedard followed up
with his third goal of the night.
Ron Clark scored his second goal
at 9:50, this made the score 9-6.
Pat Bedard got his second goal
and the last for the Canadiens at
11:15. The Canucks decided to
get going as Randy Oke scored
at the 15:00 mark, Oke scored his
eighth and last goal at 15:30.
Jeff O'Brien got his second and
last goal of the evening at
16:25.
FLYERS 11 - BRUINS 8
Both the Flyers and Bruins
skated well that night but the
Flyers came out on top. Kim
McKinnon opened the scoring
at 6:20 to give the Bruins a
1-0 lead. Perry Stover scored at
7:45 for the Flyers to tie things
up. Paul Masse put the Bruins
ahead again at 8:40. Kim McKin-
non ended the scoring at the
18:00 mark with the Bruins
leading 3-1 after the first. The
Bruins started early in the second
as Paul Masse at the 0:45 mark..
Paul Masse came back two min-
utes later with his third goal.
Perry Stover started things for
the Flyers as he scored his second
of six goals at 5:15. Kim
McKinnon scored his third goal
for the Bruins at 8:30. Stover
scored at 11:37 and again at
12:12. Jim Oesch added another
goal for the Flyers at 13:45.
Ron Rader ended the scoring in
the second at 18:23. This tied
everything at 6-6.
RFon Rader started the scoring
at the 0:30 mark. Stover scored
one minute later to give the
Flyers a two goal lead. Rick
Gingerich came through for the
Bruins scoring at 2
30. Phil Dietrich scored another
Bruin goal at 10:30 to tie things
up again. Perry Stover added
his sixth goal of the night at
11:10. Ron Rader scored his third
goal at 12.20 and Tim Smith
added another one at 13.30 to
end the game 11-8 in favour of
the Flyers.
CANADIENS 11 - BRUINS 6
The Canadiens snapped
their five game losing streak,
beating the Bruins 11-6.
Paul Masse opened the scor-
ing for the Bruins at the 4:00
mark. Fifty seconds later Rick
Bedard added one for the
Canadiens. Rick Bedard put
the Canadiens out in front
at 10:30 and Tim Snaith added
another at 12:15. Doug Eckel
scored at 16:00 and Paul
Klopp added another at
19:11. Paul Haggitt added one
for the Bruins at 19:50 to
end the first period, Canad-
iens leading 5-2.
The Bruins wnet scoreless
in the second period but the
Canadiens came up with three
goals. Two came from the
stick of Steve. Bedour and
Tim Smith added the third.
The Bruins came out and
scored four goals. Rick
Gingerich started everything
off at 2:45. Paul Haggitt
scored again for the Bruins
at the 4:00 mark. Tim Smith
scored his third goal for the

Steve Bedour added his
third and fourth goals at
14:00 and 14:58. Paul Haggitt
came back again for the
Bruins at 17:00 and Paul
Masse scored the last goal
at 19:40 making the final
Canadiens 11 and Bruins 6.
FLYERS 9- CANUCKS 4
The Canucks had a bad
night as they were held to
only four goals. The victory
was due to the fact that
the Flyers skated well. Rodger
O'Brien starting the Flyers
off scoring, when he scored
the first goal at 1:15 of the
first period. Randy Tiernan
scored .at 4:15 to give the
Flyers a 2-0 lead. Tim Smith
put another one in at 6:55.
Randy Oke put the Canucks
on the score board with a
goal at 8:45. Perry Stover
added two more goals for
the Flyers as the first period
ended at a 5-1 lead for the
Flyers.
The only goal scored in
the second period was a
Canuck player, Gary Koehler
at the 45 second mark.
Ron Rader started the third
period with a goal. Randy
Tiernan followed him, then Ro
Rader over -powered the Can-
ucks and scored again. Perry
Stover ended the scoring for
the Flyers. Randy Oke made
a slight come -back for the
Canucks as he put in two
goals in the final moments of
the game.
Unveil plaque
at Clinton
On Friday, August 1,
at 2 p.m. a historical plaque
commemorating the founding
of Clinton will be unveiled
on the grounds of the Wesley
Willis United Church, corner
of Mary and Victoria Streets,
Clinton. This plaque is being
erected by the Ontario Herit-
age Foundation, an agency
within the Ministry of Culture
and Recreation.
Friday's ceremony is being
arranged and sponsored by
the Town of Clinton and Russ
Archer, chairman of the
town's Centennial Commit-
tee, will serve as program
chairman. Others invited to
take part in the ceremony
include; His Worship D.E.
Symons, Mayor of Clinton;
Jack Riddell, MPP (Huron)1
Professor Kenneth Dawson
of Lakehead University, who
will represent the Ontario
Heritage Foundation
