planning office
The Huron County planning
department is facing major staff
changes following the announce-
ment last week by planner Nick
Hill that he is resigning Septem-
ber 30.
Mr. Hill, who joined the county
planning department in August,
1971, shortly after the depart-
ment was formed, is leaving to
enter the architectural field.
In addition to Mr. Hill, plan-
ning technician Brian Murdoch,
is resigning August 31 to return
to school. Mr. Murdoch has been
with the department two years.
Planning director Gary David-
son said it will be decided soon
which of four applicants will
be selected to fill the planning
technician vacancy, while the
department will begin advertis-

When we look at the calendar,
it is hard to believe that vac-
ation time is passing so quickly.
Last Tuesday evening, the
Ladies of Emmanuel United
Church, Zurich, had charge of
the monthly birthday party. The
programme consisted of some
songs by the small children of
the Sunday School, instrumentals
by Sylvia and Martha Neeb, a
duet by Tracy and Karen Erb
and Mrs. Ward Neeb and her
daughter Martha. Miss Sylvia
Neeb also sang a solo. Following
the musical part of the program,
a very amusing play entitled
"Wanted! A Housekeeper,"
was presented.
Residents having birthdays
during the month of July were
Mrs. Rose Russell and Mr.
Grant Edighoffer. Birthday gifts
were distributed courtesy of the
Ladies Auxiliary.
Refreshments and a social time
were enjoyed following the progs
ram.
At noon on Wednesday, all of
our residents who were able,
were honoured guests at Bay-
view Inn for dinner, courtesy
of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Horner,
proprietors. This was a very
enjoyable occasion for the resid-
ents and certainly a very gen-
erous gesture on the part of
Mr. and Mrs. Horner.
On Friday afternoon some of
our residents enjoyed a bus ride,
others gathered in the dining -

Home and will be giving a pres-
entatin. We are inviting our
readers or any interested public
to come and enjoy these players.
Today we received a letter
saying that a mixed choir of 32
voices will visit us here at the
Home on Friday afternoon,
July 25, at 3 p.m. This choir
will be from Lotzwil, County of
Bern, Switzerland. We notice
from their schedule that prior
to coming to this area they will
be performing at Ottawa, Toronto
Ontario House and Mitchell.
On July 26, they will be singing
in the Brodhagen Church and will
also be singing over Chanel
13 TV on July 28. We invite
the public to come and enjoy
this fine music and refresh-
ments and a social time follow-
ing.
We hope our reraders will keep
these dates in mind and join
the residents here to help make
these occasions worth while
for these visitors who have vol-
unteered to come.
