Harold Snell of Exeter United Church conducted serv- ice in Carmel Presbyterian church on Sunday, delivering an inspiring message on"The Light of the World is Jesus." Miss Linda Bell presided at the organ. Miss Sylvia Bell on the electric guitar and Miss Linda Bell at the organ provided a musical duet. Rev. W.D. Jarvis will be in charge of the service on Sunday, July 20, at 11:15 a.m. IOOF and REBEKAH PICNIC The annual Oddfellow and Reb- ekah Picnic was held on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Chipchase, R.R.1, Dash- wood, when over forty members and their families attended. Dart and croquet games were enjoyed in the afternoon. Following a delicious picnic supper, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Chipchase direct- ed sports. Children's race 10 and under; Jeanette Hoggarth, Tracey Par- sons, Paul Parsons. Boy's Race: Larry Parsons, Paul. Hoggarth, Gregg Hoggarth. Ladies kick -the slipper, Mrs. Elizabeth Riley, Men's kick -the - slipper, Fred Askard. Alex McBeath and Percy Campbell were captains for relay races. First, golf ball race; second, clothes pin race. Percy Campbell's team won both. Wheelbarrow race: Larry and Paul Parsons. Al Hoggarth, Noble Grand of the Oddfellow Lodge, expressed thanks and appreciation to the host and hostess for the success- ful event. Mrs. Bertha MacGreg- or, vice Grand of Amber Rebekah Lodge, expressed appreciation and thanks for the hospitality in the absence of the Noble Grand; Mrs. Margaret Consitt. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jaques and family of Newcastle visited recently with the former's par- ents Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Jaques. The 3 C's club and their fam- ilies, 35 people in all, spent a very enjoyable evening on Tues- day July 8. when they rented the Exeter pool for a swim under the stars, and ended up at the home of Mary and Jim Dougall for a wiener roast. Rev. Jarvis and Jim Dougall were chief barbecue tenders. Next get- together to be in September with Hensall in charge. Watch your church bulletin for details. APPOINTED TO WEST Tom F. Duffy has been app- ointed to the position of Western Sales and Marketing Manager for Dashwood Industries, effective August 1. Mr. Duffy joined Dashwood Industries in 1968 as executive assistant, and has gained ext- ensive experience in all phases of operatikolns. He will continue to maintain his responsibility for corporate liaison and comm- unication with west coast lumber suppliers in addition to assuming responsibility for total sales management and marketing for all western operations. Mr. and Mrs. Duffy and family, who are residents of Hensall, will be taking ujp residence in Winnipeg. ABOUT PEOPLE Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer McGreg- or returned to their hone in Sault Ste. Marie after holidaying with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Mc- Clinchey. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Flynn and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Corbett returned home from a weekend camping at Silver Lake. W.D. Jarvis accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Louise Mitchell. Visitors last week with Mrs, Squire were Norma and Harry Gottesman, Edna Anderson and Reta Hern, Oliver Anderson, Londesboro; and Jean Harding. To visit Bernice Howes on her birthday were Jim and Verna Robertson, Mrs. Ethel Car- michael, Goderich, Clara Feath- erstone celebrated her birthday the same day and was visited by Mrs. Beula Smith, Bayfield, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker, Bayfield and Mrs. Belle Reid, Varna. Visitors with Hugo Schenk were Martha Smith, Jeanette Lippert, Marion Schenk, Paul Schenk, Mrs. Nelson Schenk, and his wife Mrs. Hugo Schenk. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ferguson visited Mrs. Vera Lammie and Mrs. Anna Dilling. Hoggarth. Mr. Edgar Munn, who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, for the past several weeks, returned to his home last week.
