F.J. Vere, Stratford, chairman of the building and maintenance com- mittee reported the renovations were within the budget allow- ed ($30,000) at a meeting of the board in Seaforth last Monday night. The tenders are as follows: Electrical, awarded to Goderich Electric, $5,867; plumbing, awaded to LeBeau's Plumbing, Goderich, $3,320; carpet, John Bettridge, Stratford, $4,472; decorating, Ralph Schellenberg- er, Sebringville, $8,832; Terraz- zo floor, Bernardo Marble, Lond- on, $2,774; and miscellaneous carpentry (time and material) will cost about $2,500 and drapes, $2,000. Work will be started in the school next week and at the convent early in July as soon as the Sisters move to Strat- ford, to be comp;leted by Aug- ust 23. The move to the new offices is expected to be the last week in August. Three sketch plans for an add- ition to St. Patrick's School, Kinkora were presented by Brian Garratt of Kyles, Kyles & Gar- ratt of Stratford, to the board for consideration. The plans for the addition with the largest floor area --5,400 square feetat an estimated cost of $186,000 -- was approved and will be forw- arded to the Ministry of Educ- ation for approval. The pressure to save the maple has come from Mr. and Roller hockey CANUCKS7- CANADIANS 6 Steve Smith gave the Canucks a 7-6 victory over the Canad- ians last Thursday night in rol- ler hockey. Steve scored with less than 4 minutes to play in the second overtime period to give them their first victory of the season. Kevin McKinnon in goal for the Canadians came up with brilliant saves to force the game into overtime. Ron Desj- ardine, Randy Oke, and Steve Smith each scored two goals apiece for the Canucks, while Jeff O'Brien scored a single. For the Canadians Steve Bed - our scored a hat -trick and prov- ide the Canadians power along with good goal tending by Derek O'Brien. Rick Bedard scored two and Doug Eckel got another for the Canadians goals. BRUINS 10 - FLYERS 7 The Bruins moved into first spot in the Zurich roller hockey league last Thursday night with a 10 to 7 victory over the Flyes. The Bruins spotted the Flyers a 6-2 lead after two periods and came on to score eight goals in the last period.Goal scores for the Bruins were Kim McKinnon with four big ones Rick Gingerich and Paul Masse with two each, and Paul Haggitt and Kevin Wildfong with one a piece. For the Flyers Randy Tiernan,Perry Stover and Ron Rader scored twice each with flying Jim Oesch getting one. This was the first loss for the Flyers and Bruins remain undefeated. Goal tenders for the game were Bruins Jeff O'Brien, Flyers, Doug Eckel. Donald Farwell of Kinkora was named principal of St. Columban School, effective September 1. Rev. M.L. Barz of Berea -by - the -water Lutheran Church, God- erich, for a vacation bible school August 11-22 provided he arrang- ed for the school to be cleaned to the condition he found it on August 11. Authorization was given William Innes, Stratford, School attendance officer to at- tend a seminar in Londn from July 13-18 for attendance officers and his expenses will be paid for the five-day school as well as the salary he would have received if he had remain- ed at work. Chairman David Teahen and Howard Shantz said they had visited Grade 7 class from St... Michael 's School, Stratford, while spending a week at Camp Bimini and they both had high praise for Paul Zybura, the teach- er and his handling of the pro- gram. In the future it was sug- gested by Trustee Ronald Marcy, Stratford, that the board might help meet expenses for such a program which cost the students $250 which they earned through projects and personal payments. There will be one board meet- ing in July --on July 21.
