MILVENA ERICKSON TELLS YOU..
ALL ABOUT BAYFIELD
INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
SENIOR CITIZENS
The Bayfield Ever Young Sen -i
for Citizens held their June meet-
ing and pot -luck supper at the
Old Homestead; the beautiful
campgrounds on the old Clinton
Road. We ate our supper on the
lawn in front of the old farm
house. It was a beautiful spot
with trees in the background with
birds singing in the old apple
trees around us. A bountiful
supper had been prepared by the
lady senior citizens who certainly
can cook.
After supper, Mr. Charles
Curtis played his banjo for a
sing -song. Some of which was
a musical guessing game which
was entertaining. Mrs. J.B. Hig-
gins also sang a solo. The pres-
ident Mrs. Lloyd Makins took
the chair for a short business
meeting. The roll call showed
35 members and a few friends
present. Happy birthday wishes
were sung to a number of memb-
ers having birthdays in June,
July and August.
Mrs. Makins welcomed memb-
ers and expressed an invitation
to the few guests present to
join the club and meet with us
when we resume our meetings
in September. Mrs. Harry Baker
made a motion that one of our
very own senior members, our
blind pianist, Mrs. Myrtle Park-
er, be made a life member.
This was adopted. A letter was
received from the Bayfield
Council thanking us for the
lovely new drapes we had put
on the windows in the Council
Chambers in the Municipal
Building.
The president mentioned a pic-
nic to Goderich in August to
visit the Museum with supper
in the p icnic grounds near the
lake. A tentative date was set
for August 21, but the visit
wil have to finalized.
The president reported on the
trip she and her husband had
been chosen to take with Senior
Citizens from all over Canada,
and gave many interesting high-
lights of their trip and said the
Senior Citizens is a strong group
and well organized.
We were glad to have had
the past president, George Brown
and his wife with us. They
have both been ill but are well
on the road to recovery, and
also Mrs. J.B. Higgins whohad
been absent for quite a number
of months, due to illness. George
Brown suggested a letter of
thanks be sent to the Old Home-
stead for their kind invitation to
have our meeting on their
camp site and the use of their
facilities for making tea and
coffee. Charles played again, a
few old numbers, until the mosq-
uitoes finally drove us
home. The meeting adjourned
until the last Thursday in Sept-
ember.
