SCIENCE TROPHY WINNERS - Huron County Board of Education superintendent R.B. Allan present-
ed four grade eight pupils of Zurich Public School with science awards for outstanding

Huron Centennial School held its graduation exercises last Monday, June 23, and honoured the
achievements of several students. Julie Armstrong (left) received the award for best music
student; Kathy McFadden was the recipient of the Ruth Hayman Elliott Award For the best
Bayfield Student; the Fred Chappel Award for outstanding sports participation went to John
Coleman; Dianne Wilson was named best all-round girl; Billy -Joe Seymour, best all-round
boy; Adrian Rehorst was honoured as top academic boy while Jane Allen and Kathy Martens
tied for top academic girl. Mike Warner, winner of the Ralph Whitmore Award for Greatest

prolong the season by freezing

the harvest season. Last season
theyfroze sweet cherries with
and without sugar; in syrup;
in dry sugar; with and without
ascorbic acid
pitted and not --and came up
with this "winning way" , to
freeze sweet cherries.
Select the cherries by looks
along --firm, shiny, plump and
blemish free -and pit them
(you '11 be glad you did).
Dissolve one cup of sugar
and 1/4 teaspoon powdered or
crystalline ascorbic acid in thre
cups of water. Pack the pitted
cherries in rigid containers, and
pour the syrup over them,
leaving one inch head -
space to allow for expansion
during freezing. To keep the
