Six hits by the Zurich Mets
were not enough to hold the
strong Thorndale team down.
The Mets kept the game close
until the sventh inning, when a
Thorndale player hit a triple
with the bases loaded. The Mets
went on the lose the game
9-1.
Veteran Dick Bedard, who
pitched a strong game, had two
hits, while Rich Schilbe, Percy
Bedard, Glen Overholt, Pat Bed-
ard and Ken Clarke each had
one hit.
The Mets next home game will
be played on Friday, June 20,
agains Thorndale, at 6;30 p.m.
and on Sunday, June 22, against
Arva.
Winners of the last two glass

Vanastra program
The Vanastra Parks, Recreat-
ion and Community Centre
Board announce plans for a fun
filled Swim-a-thon, Saturday
June 21, at the Vanastra Rec-
reation Centre. The Swim-a-
thon is being organized by the
aquatics director Mr. Harold
Whitlock and the facilities
manager Mr. Rene Brochu.
Mr. Whitlock stated that prel-
iminary demand for pledge
forms has been quite heavy.
These pledge forms for anyone
wishing to participate may be
picked up at the Recreation
Centre Snack Bar from Mr.
Brochu.
Swimmers will enter the pool
at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday
afternoon with changes being
made as required. Pledges are
based on the number er of 'lengths
completed. Mr. Brochu has
stocked additinal refreshments
to allow all participants free pop.
Prizes are being offered as
follows:for the ,most lengths -
up to 10 years of agel-up to
14 years of age; -up to 59
years of age; over 50 years of
age.
Additional prizes will be
awarded to the person getting
the greatest amount pledged
per length, and the person
bringing in the largest
Summer
program
The Zurich Arena and Parks
Board Committee, along with
director Jerry Rader, are in the
progress of lining up one of the
best summer children's play
ground programs ever in the Vil-
lage of Zurich. They have hired
two girls, Elizabeth Deichert
and Janet McKinley, as play
ground leaders.
To help make the program a
success the girls wil be going
to a leader training program in
the next few weeks.
This year the main object-
ives of the program will be to
teach the children responsibil-
ity. With this there are prog-
rams of arts, crafts, music,
games, weekly projects, special
events, day camps, field trips and
lots, lots, more lined up.
Children from the ages of 6 to
15 will be able to register for the
summer program on Saturday.
June 21, at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m..
at the Zurich Community Centre.
The fee will be 55.00 per child.
This works out to be around
14 cents per day for the seven
week program.
Registration forms can be pick-
ed up at the schools or arena,
and brought the day of reg-
istration along with the fee.

Clinton, Tuckersmith, Exeter,
Hensall, Seaforth, and Goder-
ich. Proceeds from the Swim-
a-thon goes to paying for Swim-

of the Change room facilities.

NOMINATION
MEETING NOTICE
The meeting will select a Liberal Candidate to contest the
Provincial Riding of Huron -Middlesex in the next Provincial
General Election.
All persons who -are members in good standing and on the
membership roll of the Huron Provincial Liberal Riding
Association or the North Middlesex Provincial Liberal
Riding Association, 72 hours prior to the holding of the
nominating convention shall be eligible to vote. The con-
stitution also allows that any immediate past member of
these associations may renew his membership at the con-
vention, prior to the commencement of the voting.
