LEADING THE PARADE- These two lovely young ladies led the
parade of municipal officials to the stage at the big pre-
olympic physique contest held in Grand Bend on Saturday. The girls
were carrying the traditional buffalohead with them.
4-H leadership conference
During the week of June 22
to 28, over ninety 4-1-1 memb-
ers from all parts of Ontario
will be participating in the Prov-
incial 4-H Leadership Confer-
ence held at the University of
Guelph.
Attending from the County of

3 Exeter (Exeter 4-H Calf Club),

gates develop their leadership
potential through participation
in leadership seminars, social
recreation and program plan-
ning workshops, and daily
program committees for the dur-
ation of the week.
It's a week of learning, fun.
and fellowship through many re-
warding experiences. Delegates
to the conference will be exp-
ected to put these acquired skills
into practice on return to their
home communities.

BLUE WATER REST HOME
This past week was such a dull
chilly one that we were pleas-
ed to have a number of lively
programmes to help cheer the
residents.
Monday evening films were en-
joyed followed by refreshments.
On Tuesday morning Mr.
Lawrence Wein visited the res-
idents and accompanied them in a
sing -song in the dining -room.
He will be taking a couple of
months vacation now but we will
be looking forward to his visits
again in the fall.
We are pleased to have Mrs.
Aimmee Bedard as a new
Planning grant
Huron County will receive
$30,000 in community planning
study grants to help offset
the cost of producing official
plans for local municipalities.
County planning director Gary
Davidson said he has been
advised by the ministry of
housing that allocation of the
money has been approved.
The money will help cover
the costs of developing plans for
Grey, Colborne \and Goderich
Townships, the villages of
Brussels and Zurich, and for
Vanastra, the former Canadian
Forces base near Clinton.
Mr. Davidson said $5,000 will
be sent to each of the six
municipalities [Variastra's
will go to Tuckersmith Township
councilj.who are then expected
to forward the funds to the
county.

The regular monthly birth-
day party was sponsored by the
ladies of the Lutheran Church,
Dashwood on Wednesday even-
ing, A musical program and skit
were enjoyed followed by re-
freshments. Residents having
birthdays during the month of
June are Mrs. Fern Bowman,
Mrs. Margaret Hunkin, Mrs.
Ethel Munn, Mrs. • Mary Stur-
ley, Mrs Aimmee Bedard and
Mr. Peter Gingerich. Gifts
were distributed,
courtesy of the Ladies Auxiliary
and refreshments were served.
On Thursday evening, the
Ladies of Exeter United Church
gathered with the residents and
provided a miscellaneous prog-
ram of readings, violin music,
sing -songs and a short address
by Rev. Snel was very much
appreciated. Following the pro-
gram, refreshments and a social
time was enjoyed.
Bingo was played on Friday
evening followed by coffee.
On Sunday afternoon the Salv-
ation Army Band from London
visited the Home for about an
hour bringing their message
by word and music, enroute to
Mitchell from Grand Bend.
The Sunday evening chapel
Service was conducted by Rev.
Don Beck of Hensall United
Church. Special music by the
choir accompanied by the organ-
ist, Mrs. Turkheim was arrang-
ed as a prelude to Senior
Citizens' Week.
