MRS. JOYCE PEPPER, CORRESPONDENT
Mrs. Jean A demen and Mr.
Anthony Gelderland of Ridgetown
visited Friday with Sirn Roobal
and also visited with Mrs. Roob-
al who was a patient in South
Huron Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. John Shea and
David, and Mr. and Mrs. Randy
Mason and Andrew spent the
weekend camping in the . Coiling -
wood area.
Mr. and.Mrs. Bob Hope of
Thorndale visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Baker over the
weekend and while here attend-
ed the Hartman -Marshall wedd-
ing in Zurich.
UNITED CHURCH NOTES
Rev, Don Beck preached on
the sermon topic Pentecost, a
continuing event, for the Pente-
cost service in Hensall United
Church Sunday morning. The
choir under the direction of Mrs.
Turkheim sang a number.
Sunday, May 25, a reception
will be held at both Hensall and
Chiselhurst United Churches at
which time a presentation will
be made to those persons who
were members of the founding
churches of the United Church
fifty years ago.
LEGION LADIES
The May meeting of the Hen-
sall Legion Auxiliary was held
Tuesday evening in the Legion
Hall with the president, Wanda
McClinchey presiding.
The annual penny sale is being
extended to June 13. The Auxil-
iary members are catering to
a wedding in June.
Nominations and elections werf
held, New officers are, past pres-
ident, Wanda McClinchey; pres-
ident, Mona Campbell; first
vice-president, Beatrice Uyl;
second vice president, Marg Van -
stone; secretary, Donna Allan;
treasurer, Mary Bisback; Serg-
eant at arms, Iva Reid; Sports
officer, Iva Reid; executive,
Mable Blackburn, Vera Smale,
Mildred Chalmers, Joan Allan,
and Gerry Chappel.
Iva Reid is in charge of renting
the Legion Hall now.

The roll call was answered by
17 members. A thank -you note
was read from Mr, and Mrs.
Fred Brock.
It was decided to order four
dozen centennial spoons to sell,
also decided tohave lunch after
church on Sunday, May 25. The
visiting committee reported
making eight calls on shut-ins
in the past month. Erla Cole-
man and Vera Ross volunteered
to visit for rhe next month.
Sara Dick read a poem "My
Tulip Bed." The worship was
conducted by Dorothy Brintnell
with the theme "God's Love is
over all." Mrs. Beck presented
the study book.
The June meeting schedule was
reviewed, and the meeting clos-
ed with prayer. A delicious
lunch was served by Bea Brister
and Loretta Riley. A slip and
bloomer sale tobk place at the
conclusion of the meeting.
REBEKAH LODGE
Noble Grand Mrs. Margaret
Consitt presided at the regular
meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge
recently and was assisted by the
Vice -Grand, Mrs, Berth Mac-
Gregor. A number of thank -you
cards were received.
Arrangements were made to
visit Edelweiss Rebekah Lodge in
Seaforth on May 26 to present
the travelling gavel. R. S. N, G.
Mrs. Olga Chipchase reported on
a trip to Sudbury when they att-
ended the "Degree of Chivalry"
service which was held there.
Thirty-one ladies received the
degree.
They also had the pleasure of
visiting "The Home" at Barrie,
Recording secretary, Mrs. Leona
Parke, read a paper on the
founder of Oddfellowship, Thoma
Wiley.
Mrs. Dorothy Corbett, treasur-
er gave the financial report.
Mrs. Ruby Bell, reported for the
finance committee. Mrs. Bertha
MacGregor reported for the
visiting committee.
Happy birthday greetings were
extended to Mrs. Dorothy Corb-
ett and Mrs. Aldeen Volland.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The May meeting of Hensall
Women's Institute was grand-
mothers night, and a good numb-
er of members and guests attend-
ed. Entertainment included a
piano solo by Sue -Ann Finlayson
and tap dancing numbers by her
sisters Sandra and Shelley,
The guest speaker was J.W.
McLaren, painter illustrator,
and one of the original singing

group "The Durnbells, " who
showed slides and spoke of the
early history of Benntiiler.
Janis Bisback was presented
with a bank book for her baby
daughter, Victoria. The presid-
ent announced that the bus trip
to Elmira and Doon Village wou14
be on June 23; those wishing to
go please contact Mrs. Payne or
Mrs. Janis Bisback.
A gift was presented to Mrs.
Beryl Elgie in appreciation of
work done for the Institute.
She has now moved to Exeter.
Contests were won by Grace
Peck, Mrs. Finlayson, Mrs.
Britton and Mrs. William Smale.
The June meeting will be a
mystery supper for which memb-
ers will pay $1.50. You are ask-
ed to please wear your favourite
or fancy hat and be at the Legion
Hall by 7 p.m.
