She then showed pictures compiled by the Salv- ation Artily on the "Sights and sounds of Newfoundland." Mrs. Sherritt gave the Treasurer's report. Mrs. Rowe conducted a session for the provision of food for the general meeting on May 5, and for the Beef Barbe- cue on May 28. Hymns were sung and Mrs. McAllister pron- ounced the benediction. Lunch was served by the committee in charge.fill Exeter woman speaks to UCI After a. short business meet- ing, members of Hensall United Church Women and guests from Chiselhurst and Zurich United Churches met in the Fellowship Hall for the May general meet- ing.President ShirleyMcAllis- YWelcome ter welcomed everyone, and opened themeeting with a thought for today. Kay Elder with the assistance of Will Beck conducted the devotional using the topic "Stress." Several hymns were sung with Mabel Shirray acc- ompanying on the piano. Grace Drummond gave a reading "I must go shopping, " and introd- uced Sandra and Shelley Finlay - son who did several tap dance numbers. Grace presented them with a gift. Elva Forrest introduced Gwyn Whilsmith of Exeter who shared some of the thoughts she had one sunny day while sitting near a river. She said, "it is import- ant that we appreciate what God has given us and also learn to appreciate man made beauty, She also said "we as mothers and grandmothers should try to our children's minds so full of goodness, honesty and pureness so as to leave no room for the devil and hatred." Diane Gerstenkorn presented Gwyn with a gift. Grace gave another reading "Betty at the ball game." Fran Mickle gave courtesy remarks and members of unit IV ssrved a tasty lunch. Glen Wright from Exeter conducted the church service with Louise Mitchell assisting on the piano. Ted and Jean Pooley visited with Lynn Latimer, Ruby Miners, Louise Mitchell, Vera La.mmie Wilfred Goodwin. Mrs. Leonard Bragg and Doug - las of St. Marys and Ray and Irene Crago visited with Arthur Bragg. Wilson Brintnell, Exeter, and Marion Moulder, Dundas, visited with Isabel Brintnell. Jack Young visited with Wil - fred Goodwin. Alvin Wilhelm, Baden, Marg - aret Hess, Fern Desjardine visit- ed with A. Taylor. Doris Leonard, Willowdale and Marg Larson, Bayfield, visited Clara Featherstone. Mrs. Edna Anderson, Mrs. Franklin Skinner, both of Exeter visited with Mrs. Squire and Ruby Miners. CORRESPONDENT A family gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roba1 in Hensall to honour their daughter and son-in-law Don and Maja Dodds of Seaforth on the occasion of their 15th wedding anniversary. Lynn, Paul and Joan Dodds helped to distribute the gifts to which their parents thaned every one most warmly. Attending the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Dodds, Mr. , and Mrs. Robert Watson both of Seaforth, Mr. Ernie Toll, Eg- , mondville, Mr. and Mrs. Larry McGregor, Bayfield, Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGregor, Karen and Glen, Brucefield, Miss Louise Lovett, Londesboro, and Mrs. Audrey Christie of Hensall. Mrs. Laird Mickle spent a few days last week in Kitchener visiting her daughter and son- in-law Mr. and Mrs. Brian Collins. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Mickle, London spent Sunday with the former's mother Mrs. Laird Mickle. UNITED CHURCH NOTESand Members of the Independent Order of Oddfellows and Reb- ekahs of District Number 8, with Brother Harry Wade, Grand Master of Ontario, were the special guests of Hensall United Church Sunday morning. Dist- rict Deputy Grand Master Ernie Chipchase read the first lesson, and District Deputy President, Mrs. Jean Bridge read the `sec- and lesson. Rev. Don Beck preached on the sermon topic "Freedom and Licence." Mrs. Turkheim accompanied the choir for the anthem, "Holy, Holy, Holy." Sunday, May 11, is Christian Family Sunday and Mother's Day, also the Sacra- ment of Infant Baptism. UNIT IV OF U C W Unit IV of Hensall United Church Women met on May 1 with 23 ladiespresent. Mrs, Roobal prepared the devotional and spoke first. Mrs. Shaddick read a Mother's Day poem.
