Plan for Motto Cross races
MOTO CROSS RACES - Sunday saw the beginning of a series
of Moto Cross Races at Hully Gully, south of Varna, The top
photo shows a group of the youthful racers as they round one of
the curves on the slipperty track. In the lower photo the prop-
rietor of Hully Gully, Randy Collins, right, is shown with a
representative of DiJer, sponsors of the races, looking over the
various trophies which will be awarded during the series of races.
A special press night was held at Hully Gully on Friday to acq-
uaint the new men with the various activities which are being
planned in connection with the DlJer Races.

Annual meeting
of Kippen East
Women's Institute
The annual meeting of Kipper
East Women's Institute was held
in the Legion Hall with Marlene
Bell and Helen MacLean acting
as hostesses. The president,
Frances Kinsman opened the
meeting with a reading "Spring
Housecleaning." The roll call
was answered by "naming your
favourite holiday sport and
paying the fees."
A new member joined and
another was presented with an
Institute pin. Achievement Day
will be in Zurich on May 3.
Helen MacLean reported on
the cook -book and also Family
and Consumer Affairs and Mary
Whitehouse reported on the
Agriculture and Canadian Ind-
ustries.
Marlene Bell, district direct-
or, gave the district board meet -t
ing report stating the District
Annual will be held in Dashwood
on May 15 - Kippen is respons-
ible for a display.
Mildred Chalmers, program
convenor for Citizenship and
World Affairs, introduced Mr.
Ball from the Seaforth High
School Geography Club who coin
mented on the trips taken by the
club. He showed slides of Italy,
a trip taken last year. He was
thanked by Mary Connolly and
presented with a gift.
The Pepper sisters, Brenda,
Marilyn, Laurie and Jo -Ann
favoured with several numbers
with Brenda accompanying on
the piano. Grace Drummond
thanked the girls and presented
them with a gift.
Verda Sinclair commented
on the motto "The shortest way
to do many things is to do them
one at a time," She closed with
a poem "Delinquent."
The reports of standing comm-
ittees and other convenors indic-
ated the Institute has had a very
educational and worthwhile year
Films were shown on India,
Philipines, Cuba and "Behind
these doors." Auto Insurance,
Libraries and Crafts were discuss-
ed. Members were taught sever-
al different crafts. There were
skits, dance sessions and demon-
strations.
Last year the group celebrated
their 40th anniversary when
former members were invited.
Donations were made to Pennies
for Friendship, Nutrition Educat-
ion, Huron County Bursary,
Children's Aid, Mental Health,
Bunny Bundle, Blind and Hensall
Legion.

Charlotte Pullman gave court-
esy remarks. Mona Alderdice

Elaine Tiunmermans has gone
to Holland for a month's holi-
day with relatives there.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Gibson
and Mrs. Mary McGillivary,
Lucun, visited with Mr. and
Mrs. W.L. Mellis during the
past week.
Visitors with Robert Thomson
were Mr. and Mrs. Dave Moyer,
Parry Sound.
Mr. a,nd Mrs. Pepper, Exeter,
Mrs. Lorne Schneider and
daughters, of Stratford were
also visitors with Robert Thomsor.
Sympathy of the community
is expressed to Ray and Bob Bell
whose father passed away in
University Hospital, London.
