I hope no one was unduly inconvenieced by the recent storm. I was able to contact Open Line on C.F.P.L. both mornings to announce the school clsoing. However, they are receiving calls from several counties and the ann- ouncement is not always repeat- ed. In any case the severity of the storm would have left no doubt in your minds about the decision. We welcomed a new pupil to school this month. Jimmy Bowker, age seven, was trans- ferred to Huron Hope from Ham- ilton. Our skating program concluded just prior to the Winter Break. We expect to continue bowling until the end of April. Brian has his sixteenth birthday this month. Mrs. MacGregor's class baked a banana cake and we all helped him celebrate. The three schools for the retarded in Huron County have been asked to provide a display of art and crafts in the Confer- ence Room of the Administrat- ion Centre of the Board Offices for the month of May. The schools in the county exhibit work there on a rotating basis. We will try to have an article on display from each pupil. A Bowling Tournament is •to be held in Goderich, May 9. We are asked to send a team of five pupils. Therefore, not everyone who has been bowling all season will be able to part- icipate. Teams from a number of schools from within the county will be joining with us. There are tentative plans for taking some senior pupils to a sugar bush next week. It will depend on our very unpredict- able weather. Plans are also underway to use the services of Mr. Vince Elliott, Outdoor Education consultant for Huron County, a hike along the lake or through the Pinery is anticipat- ed for thos who are able to participate. There will be no school on the following dates: Friday, April 25, - the staff will be attending a conference in Toronto; Wednesday, April 30, - This is a county -wide Prof- essional Activity Day in Hurun County. Workshops have been arranged throughout the area. ---()--- GROUND GROUND BEEF If you have purchased ground beef recently, you probably have noticed the words "Made from fresh and frozen portions" on some packages. Food spec- ialists at the Ontario Food Council, Ministry of Agricult- ure and Food are frequently asked to explain why ground beef is made from frozen port- ions and whether or not this ground beef can be re -frozen at home. Consumers must realize that there are tremendous humps and valleys in the beef supply. When beef production is way up, boneless beef is frozen for /ater use. When production, is down and the consumer dem- and high, we either draw on our own frozen supply or import boneless beef from other count- ries. Mr. and Mrs. John P. Groot were married on March 26, 1975 in the St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Ede, Holl- and. The couple will reside in Canada in May, 1975. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Groot, of R.R.1, Zurich. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Hofstra, Holland.
