Mr. McAllister was thanked by Mrs. H. Caldwell. Secret pals were revealed and all present answered the roll stating, "My pet peeve while doing my shopping." Grace Pepper, Mary Broadfoot, Charl- otte Pullman, Francis Kinsman, Margaret Hoggarth and Grace Drummond were presented with a gift for having perfect attend- ance at the regular meeting. The longest married ccuple was Mr, and Mrs. Glen Bell, The winner of the lucky chair was Angus Hummel. Winners in the euchre were Verda' Sinclair, Rose Hummel, Francis Kinsman, Glen Bell, Angus Hummel and Greg Hoggarth. Rose Hummel and Grace Drummond conducted games and stunts. Agnes Eyre and Grace Pepper were in charge of the euchre and Margaret Hoggarth conducted the bingo for the children. The evening activities were preceded by a delicious pot luck supper. KIPPEN U.C,W. The United Church Women of St, Andrew's Church Kippen commemorated fifty years in the United Church of Canada when they entertained members of Zurich, Goshen, Varna and Brucefield for an evening of fellowship. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Norman Dickert and Mrs, McGregor. The devotional for the evening was taken by Mrs. John Anderson. Gail and Don Travers, Hensal. contributed two beautiful music- al numbers in song accompan- ied by Mrs. R. Broadfoot. The speaker for the evening was Rev. Stevens who reminisc- ed on the 50 years in the United Church and showed slides. Mr. and Mrs. Arie Binnendyk have sold their farm to Peter Oud and are moving to Exeter. D 1 1 Even though the calendar says its spring, the temperature seems to keep hovering around the freezing mark, and winter clothing is still the most comfortable. With the longer daylight hours, we are still pleased to be able to show films on Monday evenings. Visitors are welcome to come for the films and enjoy coffee after- wards. The sympathy of residents and staff is extended to the families of the late Mrs. Ada Porter and Mr. Allan Pickard. On Tuesday morning Mr. Lawrence Wein met with the residents in the dining -room where they enjoyed a sing-alonE before dinner. We are pleased to welcome the following new residents, Mrs. Anne Oligney, formerly of St. Marys and Mr. Fred Fow- lie, formerly of London and Bayfield. Now since the weather should be improving, we hope to be snaking good use of the bus so that the residents will be able to get out and enjoy the spring air and scenery, The Ladies Auxiliary have completed a quilt which they are selling tickets on to be drawn at the Bean Festival. The quilt is on display here and tick - Miss Jean Ivison has returned from London where she was visiting friends. Emmanuel UCW entertain The United Church Women of Emmanuel United Church, Zurich, held their Easter Thank - offering on Thursday evening and entertained members of St. Boniface CWL and the U.C.' from Bayfield and Goshen churches. Mrs. Dorothy Bullock presid- ed for the devotional period at which the scripture reading was given by Mrs, Harry McAdams, followed by prayer by Mrs. Marie Pask, Mrs. Tetreau and Mrs. E. Desjarcline each read a spring poem. Musical numbers were prov- ided by Mrs. Earl Deichert and daughter, Elizabeth and Susan. Mrs. Bullock introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. E. Madden, of Lucan, wife of the United Church minister there. She chose as her topic "What hast Thous in They Hand?" telling of the call of Moses and making use of the talents we have. She also told of her exp- eriences as a minister's wife in Western Canada. Following lunch and a social hour the U,C,W, held a short business meeting at which an invitation to attend Hensall U.C.W. on May 5 was accept- ed.
