HensaH WI elect new officers
The annual meetingof Hen-
sall Women's Institute was held
Wednesday evening in the
Legion Hall. President Hilda
Payne welcomed everyone, and
opened the meeting in the
usual form. The roll call was
answered with 20 members with
the payment of fees.
Correspondence was a letter
of appeal from the ARC Indust-
ries in Dashwood asking for
volunteers to help. Achievement
Day will be held in Zurich on
May 3 for the 4-H clubs. A
donation was sent to the Ment-
ally Retarded. Hilda gave some
more details on the bus trip on
June 23 to Elmira.
Hensall 4-H girls are going
to have a garden club this
summer. Leaders will be Janis
Bisback and Sharon Hoffman.
Special guests for the evening
were the Bradley family from
Clinton. Mr. Bradley accomp-
anied on the accordian while
the children very capably ent-
ertained everyone with their
delightful selections.
Sara Simpson read a resolut-
ion that had been brought in
by the Hurondale branch and
some discussion was had on this
subject. Jessie McAllister gave
a report on the board meeting
held in the United Church. The
district annual will be held at
Dashwood on May 15.

heads of each committee; Marg
Ingram gave the treasurer's
report and the financial state-
ment; Lois Shapter gave the
auditors report; Hilda Payne
gave the Public relations report;
Nellie Riley reported for
agriculture and Canadian indus-
tries; Joyce Pepper reported for
citizenship and world affairs;
Pearl Koehler reported on
.family and consumer affair:
and Sara Simpson reported on
resolutions.
Mrs. Papple from Seaforth
conducted the installation of
officers. They are; past presid-

Mrs. Papple brought greetings
grom the F, W F.W.I.O. and closed
the installation with two short
verses. Hilda presented the
Bradley family and Mrs. Papple
with a gift. Grace Peck gave
courtesy remarks.
UNIT 4 OF UCW
Unit IV of U.C.W., of
Hensall United Church was
postponed until April 7 on
account of inclement weather.
A quilting party started in the
morning and Mrs. McAllister
chaired the program in the
afternoon and opened the meet-
ing with a reading "Miracles."
The scripture was read by
Mrs. Purdy from Mark 16.
The devotional was "the joy of
finding the stone rolled away."
This was followed by prayer
by Mrs. Britton.
Mrs. E. Chipchase gave the
study "An Easter Message" and
"Getting on the right side of
Easter." She concluded with a
thought for the day, the Easter
The May meeting schedule
was reviewed. Hostesses were
Pearl Koehler and Madeline
Harburn. A white elephant
auction sale was held at the
conclusion of the meeting,
which was very much enjoyed
by all.

Mrs. Alexander took up the
offering which was dedicated
by Mrs. McAllister. Miss Amy
Lammie provided music on a
record "The King is corning."
Twenty-one ladies answered
the roll and there were two
visitors.
Sixty-two visits were made
in the past month. The meeting
closed with prayer and the
Lord's Prayer in unison.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Luth-
er, Mrs. Harburn and the com-
mittee.
UNITED CHURCH NOTES
The choir sang the anthem
"Praise" for the service of
worship in Hensall United
Church Sunday morning. Rev.
Don Beck preached on the
sermon topic "Love" a gift and
a demand." The flowers were
from the funeral of the late
Gerard Vanderweil. On Sunday,
April 20 morning worship at
the Chiscthurst United Church
begins at 9:30 a.m.
