INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hulls and
Jason, London visited during
Easter weekend with his mother,
Mrs. Bessie Hulls. Weekend
guests with Mrs. Hulls were her
son and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Hulls, Michael and Byron
of Dutton.
Mrs, Eric Earl returned to
her home in the village on
Sunday after enjoying a two
week vacation with her daught-
er and grandchildren, Mrs. B.A
Quigg, Kim and Joey of London,
in Hollywood, Florida.
Mrs. Fred LeBeau spent sever-
al days with her family, Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Cluff, Rob and
Tara, in London. She also
visited her sister, Mrs. Fred
Arkell who is confined in Univ-
ersity Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Watson,
London were weekend guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Rob Irwin and
Robbie.
Mr, and Mrs. Steve Scotch -
mer, Molly and Jody, Sr.
Catherines, and Miss Betty Etue,
Toronto, spent the weekend with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.F.
Scotchmer and Calvin. On Sat-
urday they attended the funeral
of the ladies' uncle Mr. Kenn-
eth Etue, of Seaforth.
Ed Heard of Varna and Ray
Scott, flew to Naicam, Sask.,
last week and were Honourary
pallbearers for their cousin,
Ronald Presber, 21, who was
killed in a motor accident,
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scotch -
mer returned to their home
last week after spending an
enjoyable two month vacation
in Tuscon, Arizona. On their
way to Arizona, they spent som(
time in Mexico, Hollywood,
California, Texas and Las
Vegas, Nevade. While the
Scotchmer's were in Arizona
they were visited for three
weeks by their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Porter.
Mr. and Mrs, Thomas Black-
ie, R.R.1, Varna, and Mr.
Robert Sowerby, Goderich
spent Tuesday with Mrs. Milt-

on Pollock, Goshen Line.
Best wishes to Morris Scott
who is recuperating at his borne
following surgery.
Mr. Bud Sturgeon and Miss
Barbara Davidson, London visit-
ed Friday with his parents Mr.
and Mrs. Jack B. Sturgeon and
brother Andrew.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Deller
and Scott, of Erin, visited
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Del-
bert Haw. Kerry Deller who had
been visiting with relatives here
for the past week during her
school break, returned home
with her parents.
Reeve Ed Oddleifson and his
wife have returned home from
a very pleasant vacation in
Bermuda and Tampa, Florida.
Sincere sympathy is extended
to Mr. Thomas Westlake and
family in the loss of a wife and
mother, Mrs. Bella Westlake
last week.
Mrs. G.L. Knight, Louisa
Street, reported that two yellow
Ski-doo snowmobiles, bearing
licence numbers A698 and A69
belonging to the Art. Latimer
family of Toronto had been
taken frcm her property on
Wednesday evening, April 12.
The larger of the two machines
has a back on it and the smaller
one is without a back. These
machines were lifted off their
trailer; the covers and equip-
ment belong to them scattered
around the backyard. Goderich
detachment of the OPP are inv-
estigating the thefts and Mrs.
Knight asks that anyone seeing
these machines to please cont-
act her. In conversation with
Mrs. Wayne Payne, Highway 21
in the village, we learned that
some person or persons had
attempted to take their red
Rupp snowmobile, but only got
as far as William Street where
it apparently stalled and was
abandoned.
The regular meeting of the
Board of Management of Trin-
ity Church was held Tuesday
evening April 1 in the Parish
Hall. The Board learned that

beginning on
Thursday, April 24
7:30 p.m.
The program director is Mrs. Pat Stibbards.
The course fee is $40.00 ($75.00 per couple);
the fee includes the textbook and workbook.
The program is highly recommended.
Interested persons should register at the
school by telephone or in person.

Mr. Roy Desch intends to have
the new front doors installed on
the church within a week and
will use the antique hinges as
requested by the board.
Rev. Ken Anderson the Camp
Director for Huron Church Camp
sent along forms for registration
at the Camp for the coming
season beginning June 29 and
running through to August 23,
and also application forms for
counsellors and/or staff. They
are very much in need of
counsellors for the coming
season and ask that anyone who
is interested may obtain the
forms from Rev. G. Youinatoff.
Applicants must be 16 years of
age or over to apply and the
forms must be in the hands
of the Director no later than
May 1. Huron Church Camp
is situated on Lake Huron,
three miles south of Bayfield
on Highway 21.
AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY
President Tom Penhale pres-
ided over a well -attended
meeting of the Bayfield Agric-
ultural Society on Monday,
Zurich Institute
elect officers
Zurich Women's Institute
met on Monday night in the
Hay Township Hall, with 21
members and three visitors pres-
ent. Two of the visitors, Mrs.
Fisher and Mrs. Snelgrove,
were welcomed as new memb-
ers bringing the total W.I.
membership to 37.
On display were the quilts
for sale, which had been made
in March.
A very successful year was
reported by the treasurer, Mrs.
Harold Thiel, in the annual
meeting which followed, the
following officers for 1975-76
were installed by Mrs. T.
Meyers. Past president, Mrs.
L. Klopp; president, Mrs. New-
ell Geiger; first vice-president,
Mrs. Len Prang; second vice-
president, vacant; secretary,
Mrs. E. Consitt; treasurer,

March 31. The secretary and
treasurer's reports were approv-
ed as read. The meeting dealt
with the coming Fall Fair and
the committees reported plans
under way. Frank Burch, chair-
man of the Special Events
announced some new features
for this year's Fair with new
events planned to arouse comp-
etition between the various
camps and Bayfield groups. An
Old Time Square Dance is to
be held on the Saturday night
of the fair, in the arena. The
Poultry Show will be larger this
year with the addition of Stand-
ard size poultry being added
to the Bantams and Pigeon
classes. The president announc-
ed that the Fair has been fort-
unate in securing the Four Time;
World Champion horse-shoe
pitcher, Elmer Hohl to come to
our Fair to demonstrate his
prowess at this old time sport.
The secretary reported that
Pirie Mitchell and Peaches of
CFPL T.V. Talen Show will
again be present. The local
Lions Club will again operate
their rides and concessions
on the Saturday of the fair.
The ladies are planning spec-
ial prizes for overall winners
of most sections, and also pres-
ented the secretary with inscrib-
ed letterhead for our society
which will be very useful. In
other business discussed. it was
decided to have a survey of the
Fair grounds, boundaries made,
to determone where lines
should be. Another meeting
closer to Fair time will be held
later.
Bayfield Lions Club president
Jack Merner, won the election
for Zone Chairman, Zone 3,
south at the First Annual Conv-
ention of District A-9 Lions in
Stratford Aprils and 6, The
Zone includes Lions Clubs from
Atwood, Milverton, Bayfield,
Clinton, Exeter, Mitchell,
Monkton, Seaforth and Zurich.
