The game was only 25 sec-
onds old when Shipka took an
early lead with Peter Gill
scoring. Midway through the
initial stanza Overholt scored
his first goal with the assists
going to Pat Bedard and Rich
Schilbe. Four minutes later
Bedard scored on a pass from
Schilbe, and then with less
than two minutes remaining
Larry Laye brought Shipka right
back into the game when he
banged in a pass from Bill Hoff-
man. With 45 seconds left in the
period Overholt scored his sec-
ond goal of the game from Pat
Bedard,
Both teams tried hard to score
in the second session, but the
two goalies were exceptionally
sharp and it took until the 19.54
mark before the Flyers found '
the range, with Pat Bedard
scoring from Ron Desjardine.
At the 5.10 mark of the
final stanza Shipka defenceman
Stan Lovie was attempting to
clear the puck out from behind
his own net when it landed
behind a startled Joe Arnold in
their own goal. Kevin McKinn-
on was given credit for the goal,
making the score read 5-2.
Thirty seconds later Peter Gill
scored his second goal of the
game for the Colonials to bring
them within two of tieing the
score, but midway through the
period Overholt scored his third
goal of the game to shoot the
locals into a comfortable 6-3
lead. A minute and a half later
Overholt banged in his fourth
marker to end the scoring.
Percy Bedard in the Zurich
goal carne up with an outstand-
ing performance especially in
the thud period when the visit-
ors tried hard to get back in the
game. Several tunes he stopped
the Colonials on clear-cut
breakaways, and kept the Fly-
ers right in the game.
A total of 21 -minor penalt-
ies were called in the chippy
game, with 12 of them going
