Langton was ahead 3-0 before Mark Regier found the range on an assist from Robert Will- ert, in the second period. Langton scored another before the end of the second, but Zurich got three big goals in the last period to send the game into overtime. Kerry Bedard got two goals, both assisted by Kris Bedard,and Robert Will- ert got the tie goal, assisted by Len VanWonderen . In the second game of the Goderich Tourney, the Zurich Peewees won 2-0 over West Flamboro, and Will now adv- ance into the semi-final series playing Friday afternoon at 3.10 p.m. Kerry Bedard scored the first Zurich goal in the second per- iod with the assist going to Mark Kirk. In the third period Mark Kirk made the score 2-0 when he scored on a pass from Kerry Bedard and Robert Will- ert. Lose to Honeywood HONEYWOOD 4 - ZURICH 0 Honeywood carne out skating and scored a quick and decisive goal at the 47 second mark of the first period to drub Zurich Thursday night at Honeywood. FRI SAT MARCH N, 77 ?S 79 Zurich wins series over Exeter The Zurich Flyers won their best -of -seven semi-final series in South Huron Hockey League action against the Exeter Mohawks, four games to two, taking the sixth game in Exeter on Friday night by an 8-3 score. Three of the four victories for the Flyers were registered on Exeter's home ice. Glen Overholt sparked the Zurich crew in their fourth Zurich novices in tournament Rick Kuepfer and Derek McKinnon with two goals each, prompted Zurich's victory over Bayfield, 5-4. The end of the first period ended in a 1-1 tie with Kuepfer scroing for Zurich and Bobbie Snell for Bayfield, Kuepfer, McKinnon and Snell scored in the second per- iod to leave Zurich ahead 3-2. Both teams scored twice in the third period to finish the game in favour of Zurich 5-4. Goal scorers were Paul Over- holt, and Derek McKinnon for Zurich and Robert Van Aaken and Bobbie Snell for Bayfield. GODERICH 4 - ZURICH 3 Zurich's second game of the day, with Goderich as oppon- ents was another tight one. An overtime goal scored by Gord Harper, of Goderich was a big one, allowing the opposition a win of 4-3. Derek McKinnon started the scoring for Zurich in the first period. Goderich followed with two goals to end the first per- iod in a 2-1 score. The second period proved Zurich's strength as Derek McKinnon slapped in his sec- ond of the day and Rick Kuepfer scored to give Zurich a 3-2 lead. Zurich's defence held the Goderich boys at bay for the entire period. With ten minutes to go in the third period, Goderich decided to tie the game on a goal by David Jewell causing an over- time situation. A sudden death goal for the rivals at the 35 second nark ended the game in a 4-3 victory for Goderich. Kevin McKinnon helped the local's cause by blinking the red light twice, while Rich Schilbe and Ron Rader each scored one. The first period was only two and a half minutes old when Overholt started his rally, bang- ing in a pass from Pat Bedard. Brad Datars kept Exeter in the game when he scored three minutes later, but at the 10.05 mark Schilbe tipped in a pass from Ron Desjardine to shoot Zurich into the lead, 3-2, A minute and a half later Mc- Kinnon scored his first goal for the locals, with Bob Merner and Schilbe picking up the assists. McKinnon scored his second goal of the game at the 3.37 mark of the second period, with Merner and Ken Srnale earning the assists. Midway through the middle stanza Exeter carne back with a goal, scored by Gary Parsons. Murray Glanville shot the Mohawks right back into the game at the 1.37 mark of the third period, and for the next eight minutes it was anybody's contest as both teams tried hard to score but failed. Finally at the 10.21 mark Overholt carne through with his second goal, when he slipped in a pass from Ron Desjardine and Bedard. Six minutes later Overholt scored again with Schilbe picking up the assist, and then at the 18.21 mark he registered his final marker with Schilbe and Bob Farquhar assisting. With the score 7-3 and less than a min- ute left in the game, Ron Rader blinked the red light for Zur- ich to give them a command- ing 8-3 lead. Tem minor penalties were called against Exeter, while Zurich picked up nine. The Flyers will now meet the winner of the Shipka- Centralia College series in a best -of -seven affair for the South Huron championship. Shipka currently leads the series three games to two, and if they wind up on Thurs- day night the first game bet- ween the two arch -rivals would get under way on Sun- day afternoon in the local arena, If Centralia College wins tonight the seventh game in their series would be played in the local arena on Sunday night. If Shipka emerges as the eventual winner in the series all games between them- selves and Zurich would be played in the Zurich Arena.
