to make quilt
Mrs. Van Raay opened the
last Catholic Women's League
meeting with the league prayer
and a hymn. Fourteen memb-
ers and one guest answered
the roll call. Minutes of the last
meeting were read by Mrs.
Louise Denomme and Mrs.
Verberne gave the secretary's
report.
Mrs. Stephen Gingerich,
introduced by Mrs. George
Mathonia, demonstrated more
liquid embroidery techniques.
Another quilt will be set up at
Mrs. Stark's home. In spite of
bad weather conditions, many
persons attended the World
Day of Prayer to hear Sister
Elaine Dunn speak on the
theme, "Become Perfectly
One."
News of Varna
The United Church Women
held their March meeting in
the basement of the church on
Thursday evening with 18
members present.
Mrs. Bill Taylor opened the
meeting with a poem, followed
by a hymn. Group II was in
charge of the devotions.
Mrs. Harvey Hayter read the
scripture followed by a prayer
by Mrs. George Wilson. Mrs.
Wilson read poems on the
"Origin of Easter, " Offering
was taken up by Mrs. Grant
Webster and dedicated by Mrs.
Alexander Taylor.
Minutes of the last me eting
were read and treasurer's rep-
ort was given Thank -you notes
were read. Varna UCW were
extended an invitation from
Kippers UCW for April 8 at
Bowling scores at Zurich Lanes

inue ordering Upper Rooms.
They will be collecting for the
Cancer Society. The UCW have
ordered five dozen centennial
spoons.
The Explorers group has fold-
ed due to lack of members.
Therefore, the UCW have ass-
umed the responsibility for
contributing to the adopted chik
which the girls have been doing.
Twenty dollars has been don-
ated to Clinton Hospital.
It was decided to hold a
crokinole party at the Varna
Township Hall on Friday night,
March 21. Forty-one calls were
made to the sick and shut-in
during February. The meeting
was then closed.

Zurich 4-H club
decide on name
The Zurich IV 4-H club held
their second meeting on Febru-
ary 25 at Agnes Lampieres at
7 p.m. We opened with the 4-1-
pledge
-1pledge and decided when our
next meeting is going to be.
Joanne McBride read the
4 59 minutes of the last meeting. We
3 115 decided that our name would be
4 65 "Clever Co-ordinators." Nelly
5 79 Van Wonderers thought of the
5 95 name.
2 57 In our discussion we discussed
0 94 what line, texture, and colour
7 108 is best for each figure. Later we
held materials up to ourselves
and decided what colours best
suited us. We discussed arrange-
ments for going to the Ice Cap-
ades and the meeting was
adjourned.
We held our third meeting at
Agnes Lampieres, March 6,
at 7 p.m. Miss Pengilley the
Home Economist came to our
meeting. We opened with the
pledge and Nelley Van Wonder-
er' read the minutes of the last
meeting. We discussed ward- •
robe harmony and clothes to
suit the occasion.
