Community and Social Serv-
ices Minister, Rene Brunelle,
introduced an amendment to
the Child Welfare Act, the
purpose of this Amendment is to
enable the Province to assume
a larger share of the costs of
services of the Children's Aid
Societies, with a corresponding
reduction in the financial burd-
en on Municipalities. This bill
will also enable the Province
to revise and improve procedure;
for the submission of Society
budgets to Municipalities in the
Province and will also imple-
ment a number of other changes
to improve child welfare serv-
ices.
The rest of the week in the
Legislature was spent by the
Members in consideration of the
Speech of the Honourable Lieut-
enat Governor at the Opening of
the Session. The Throne Speech
debate will continue until the,
budget is brought down on
April 7.

Blowout? Don't slam on the
brakes! Ease up on gas and let
the car slow down. But keep
your hands on the wheel to
control steering.
If your car is stopped for more
than a minute, turn off the
engine. It takes less gas to
restart than to idle.
Don't drive in sunglasses at
night. True, they'll cut
headlight glare, but they'll
also limit vision.
We think of cars as made of
steel, but an average two -ton
auto has more than 100
pounds of aluminum in it.
Many big -car plants in Detroit
were converted to manufac-
ture compacts. But they're stor-
ing the machine -tools that
make big cars, just in case.
Whatever size car you drive, you'll get
better service with regular
maintenance. You can count on the ex-
pert mechanics at Larry Sniders.
