Zurich leads Exeter series, 34
After playing five games in
their best -of -seven playoff
series in South Huron Hockey
action, the Zurich Flyers sill
hold a one -game lead over the
Exeter Mohawks. Last Friday
night in Exeter the Flyers came
on strong again to register an
easy 13-9 victory giving then a
3-1 lead in games. But back in
Zurich on Sunday afternoon
the locals failed to wind up the
series when the Mohawks edged
them 5-4.
The sixth game in the series
will be played in Exeter on
Friday night, and if a seventh
game is necessary if will be
played back in Zurich on Sun-
day afternoon, beginning at
2 p.rn.
Exeter jumped into an early
lead in the first period when
Jack Glover and Jim Pfaff
both found the range by the
middle of the session. With
less than a minute left in the
first, Ken Srnale shot Zurich
back into contention when he
slapped in a pass from Rich
Schilbe and Rod Chapman.
The second period was only
40 seconds old when Glen Over-
holt tied the score at 2-2.
Eight minutes later Kevin Mc-
Kinnon found the range for the
locals to give them their only
lead of the game. With only a
minute and a half remaining in
the second Gary Parsons scored
his first of two big goals to knot
the count at 3-3.
Parsons scored again at the
3.09 mark of the first period,
only to have Rich Schilbe come
right back for Zurich less than
a minute later. The winning
goal was scored by Brad Datars
at the 12.25 mark of the third.
Of the 32 minor penalties cal-
led during the game, the Flyers
were assessed eight of them
while Exeter picked up only
four.
ZURICH 13 - EXETER 9
In the fourth game of the
series played in Exeter last
Friday night, the Flyers had
little trouble with their oppon-
ents as they steam -rolled to
an easy 13-9 victory. Zurich
held a 6-0 lead by the 12.45
mark of the first period, only
to lose ground in the second
and allow the Mohawks to come
within one goal of tying the
count. They came back out
strong in the third, however,
and out -scored the homesters
4-1 to give them the comfort-
able margin of victory.
Glen Overholt with four big •
goals, and Kevin McKinnon
with three, were the big guns
in the winning cause. Ron Desj-
ardine scored twice, while Pat

Rimmer each scored three for
Exeter, with single counters
coming from Jack Glover, Gus
Brown and Larry Willett,

end of the penalty parade, as
