Wallace, chairman of the board of directors of Blue Water Rest Home, told the annual meeting last Tuesday night that construction of‘a senior citizens apartment build- ing opposite the present struct- ure will begin this spring. The project has been delayed al- most a year, but the board chairman said plans for the building have been re -designed to stay within a cost structure set up by Central Mortgage and Housing. Dr. Wallace said recent architect plans for 24 units in a single storey building are being submitted for a detailed report. Original plans called Sewing Supremes plan exhibits (by Mary Ann Mathonia) Our fourth meeting took place at Martha Neeb's on Wednes- day, March 5, at 8 p.m. It was a short meeting this week, but we discussed our plans for Achievement Day. Mary Ellen Steckle and Sylvia Neeb volunteered to show our exhibit. We had a list of words to do with sewing that we had to unscramble. Using and laying a pattern was discussed. Everyone just loved the ice capades that we went to in London. It was very beautiful and we hope everyone will make an effort to go. for three buildings with eight apartments in each. The original estimates early in 1974 were $13,500 per unit and costs had now risen to $19, 000 per unit. This brought about the change to 24 units in one structure with costs of about $17, 000 per unit. Dr. Wallace added, "This is the closest we could get to what we were after. If we keep putt- ing it off it won't get any cheap- er. I like the original plan best, but this is a reasonable compromise and all we can afford." Horne administrator Joseph Risi presented a full report on the operation for the year 1974. At the end of the year the resid- ents consisted of 17 men and 47 women. Home capacity is 64 beds with one spare for emerg- ency. Mr. Risi said there are 20 names of persons on a waiting list to get, into the home. He said 69,459 meals were prepared for residents during 1974 with kitchen costs totalling $65, 806. Medical services cost amounted to $126, 791 and housekeeping costs were $13, 108, Operation of the laundry cost $24, 554. Total expenditures for the year before mortgage payments were $310, 339. Monies paid by residents amounted to $159, 280 and $154, 011 was contribut- ed by governments.
