in the first period, but by the
end of the second session they
had come back strong to tie the
score at 5-5.
Kevin McKinnon with three
big goals and Rod Chapman
with two spearheaded the Zur-
ich attack, while Ray Weido,
Rich Schilbe, Ron Desjardine
'and Glen Overholt scored one
each.
There were only eight min-
utes remaining in the third
period when McKinnon scored
the equalizer, and then three
minutes later he shot the Fly-
ers into an 8-7 lead. With
only. 18 seconds remaining Glen
Overholt slipped out of his own
end and shot the puck into an
empty Exeter net. The Moh-
awks goalie had been pulled
in favour of an extra attacker.
Both teams were assessed five
minors and one major penalty.
In the Sunday afternoon clash
back in the local ice palace the
Flyers were always behind and
seemed to lack the necessary
drive to go ahead on the score -
sheet. The first period ended
2-2 and the locals went behind
4-3 by the end of the second
session, but it was always
the visitors who scored first.
Murray Glanville shot the
Exeter six ahead early in the
first period, but less than a
minute later Glen Overholt
flashed the red light for the
locals to tie the game. At the
5 -minute mark Al Rimmer
scored his first of four goals
for the Mohawks, only to have
coach Bob Merner come through
with equalizer with just over a
minute left to play in the init-
ial stanza.
The second period was only
four minutes old when Rirnmer
scored his second goal to give
the visitors a 3-2 lead, but
once again the Flyers fought

back with Glen Overholt bang-
ing in the equalizer at the 8.55
mark. With three minutes left
in the middle session Rimmer
scored again to give the Moh-
awks a 4-3 lead.
At the 6.55 mark of the
third period Rimmer scored his
final goal of the game, to give
Exeter a 5-3 lead. Two min-
utes later Rod Chapman fired
the locals up when he banged in
a pass from Ron Desjardine,
but despite a determined effort
for the rest of the game the
Zurich crew failed to come up
with the equalizer. They miss-
ed on several good chances,
and on others Bill Inch proved
to be a stumbling block in the
Exeter net.
The locals picked up only
four minor penalties in the
game, while the chippy Exeter
crew were assessed six minors,
two majors and one misconduct,
Both the two majors and mis-
conduct were called against
Gary Parsons who displayed a
fit of temper after being hand-
ed a good clean body check by
reugged Dick Bedard on the
Zurich blueline.
