NUTRITIOUS CONVENIENCE
If you periodically turn to
convenient and quick frozen
fish and chip dinners for family
meals, don't feel you are cheat-
ing on nutrition, suggests
Consumers' Association of
Canada. The daily protein
requirement according to the
Department of Health and Wel-
fare, for an average adult male
is 56 grains. The average fem-
ale needs 41 grams; 50 to 59
grams if she is pregnant. Child-
ren require anywhere from 22
to 54 grams per day of protein
depending on their age and sex.
Results of the test report on
frozen fish and chip dinners in
the February issue of Canadian
Consumer reveals that all brands
come close to or do provide
one third of the daily require-
ment for adults and are more
than adequate for children.
Findings were based on an aver-
age serving of two pieces of
fish per person or two and one
half when a package contained
an odd number of pieces.
