Peewees split series
In the Garden City Zurich
exchange visit, the Zurich
Peewees carne up with some 9f
their best hockey of the season
with a win and a loss against
the U.S, Travel "A" team.
GARDEN CITY 8 ZURICH 6
On Saturday, February 8,
Garden City managed to keep
the go-ahead goal throughout
the game, but Zurich never
gave up the battle. Garden
City scored first from Schlunn,
but a minute later Robert Will-
ert deflected in a shot from Kris
Bedard. Before the period ended
Orr and Donohue put Garden
City out front 3-1.
Then in the second period
Mark Regier scored a pair of
goals, one unassisted and the
other from Kerry Bedard to tie
the game, but Garden City
went ahead again on a goal by
Bailey.
Garden City caine out strong
in the third period, getting two
quick goals from Schlunn and
Pavelka, but before two min-
utes had passed, Robert Willert
scored unassisted. Then Zurich
rallied with a pair of goals,
one from Kerry Bedard on a
solo effort and then Jeff McKin-
non from JIM Willert which tied
the score 6-6. However, Zurich:
efforts were in vain as Schlunn
scored his third and Timcoe
added to their 8-6 decision over
Zurich.
ZURICH 5 - GARDEN CITY 4
On Sunday, February 9,
Garden City again began the
scoring with a goal by Tanker-
sley, but Kcrry'Bedard tied the,

ZURICH 11 - EXETER "13" 1
On Wednesday, February 5,
Zurich chalked up a decisive
win over lire Exeter "B" Club.
There was no scoring in the
first period, but Zurich knocked
in six goals in the second and
five more in the third period
before Exeter got their lone
goal from Hern in the dying
moments. Kris Bedard, Jim
Willert, and Robert Willert
each had a pair of goals, while
Mark Regier, Gerard Masse,
Greg Kirk, Len Van Wonderen,
and Kerry Bedard added singles.

In the second period, Zurich
managed a three goal rally
when Robert Willert notched '
two goals, one from Kerry Bed-
ard and the other from Kris
Bedard, and then Greg Kirk

Bedard assisting. Schlunn carne
right back to make the score
4-3 in favour of Zurich at the
end of the second.
The third period saw each
team add another goal. First
Jim Willert scored on a play
from Len Van Wonderen and
ICris Bedard and then Schlunn
netted the final goal, with
Zurich gaining the 5-4 win.

Midgets win
playoff series

On Friday, February 7, the
Zurich Midgets played the sec-
ond game of the best of three
defeating Blyth 5-3. Zurich now
moved on to the semi-finals
of the WOAA championship.
Blyth opened the scoring at
the 5:44 hark ofthe first period
ori a goal by Larry Ilowitt.
Zurich didn't score until the
5:30 mark of the second period
when Randy McKinnon scored
unassisted. Blyth carne back at
6:27 on a goal by Ken Ritchie.
Zurich tied it up at 8:50 with
a goal by Jeff. O'Brien assisted
by Steve Ilaberer and Glenn
Zirk. At 11:25 Blyth went ahead
on a goal by Terry Pearce.
Zurich tied it up at 13:15 with
a goal by Wayne Schilbe assist-
ed by Marty Becker to end the
period in a 3-3 tie.
Zurich came out in the third
period with a goal at 5:25 by
Rick Bedard assisted by Fred
Mouunersteeg and Wayne
Schilbe. Wayne Schilbe
blinked the red light, assisted
by Marty Becher and Fred
iMarullersteeg at the 7:4r Mark
to give Zurich the 5-3 victory.
There were 16 penalties
called with Zurich picking up
four minors and a major, while
Blyth received 10 minors and
a Misconduct in the hard-fought
game.
