McKinley, nominated for warden by Reeve Jack Tini y, Hay Township, told council he has no °great or grand plans for county council' in the com- ing months. "This council doesn't deem its strength from one warden to one committee, " said Ward- en McKinley. He called on each individual member to inspire confidence in the people they serve. "Our greatest resource is our dedication and willingness to accept responsibility, " he said. Warden McKinley said that in the past few years, govern- ments have tended to rob ind- ividuals of•the privilege to look after themselves, supplying everything from education to hospitalization. He warned that legislation is only a part of what's needed for progress, reminding his audience that people must take part in the work of the municipality. Mr. Hill said it was a "fairly hot issue in Goderich" but it is something that should not be confined to Goderich and the Management Committee should ' look into other areas across the county where st.:dents must wall more than a mile to school. Clinton Reeve Harold Lobb, had hoped to become warden of Huron during the year of Clinton's Centennial celebrat- ions (July 25 to August 4). However, he told the packed chambers he would welcome all to Clinton whether or not he was named warden. Mayor Deb Shewfelt, God- erich, brought greetings from the county town and said the municipality's theme for 1975 is "communication and co- operation --not only within our own limits but the county lim- its as well." Mayor Shewfelt, who sat on county council last year, said the councillors face many common sense challenges this year. "If there are any changes, let's_make them our changes, '" said Mayor Shewfelt.
