Bantams win two exhibition games
ZURICH 5 GRAND BEND 4
In a penalty marred game,
Zurich managed to stay on top
in both goals and penalties.
Sixteen penalties were handed
out to the home team, while
Grand Bend had twelve,
Midway through the first
period, Kris Bedard found the
range with assists going to
Mike Haggitt and Robert
Willert. Then near the end . of
the period an unassisted effort
came from Robert Willert.
Again early in the second
frame, Robert Willert scored
from Mark Regier and Jim
Willert. Grand Bend found the
range on a goal by Kelders, but
before the period ended Robert
Willert slapped in two more
goals assisted by Kerry Bedard
and Mark Regier.
Zurich's goals ended at the
start of the third period when
Robert Willert notched his
fifth of the game, aided by
Mark Regier. Then Grand
Bend went on a scoring spree,
with goals by Fischer, Kelders
and Wilde. But Zurich carne up
with the win.
ZURICH 6 LUCAN 3
In the first period, Zurich
outscored Lucan three to two.
To start the scoring, Robert
Willert scored before the game
was a minute old, then Jim
Willert notched another, less'
than a minute apart.
Then it was Lucan's turn with
Atoms defeat Grand Bend.
The Zurich Atoms defeated
Grand Bend last Wednesday by
a score of seven to five in the
Zurich arena.
However, the game was in
some doubt for Zurich during
the first period at least as
Grand Bend opened the scoring
with two goals. Robbie Mennen
opened the scoring assisted
by Bryan Kading. Bryan Kad-
ing then made the score two to
_nothing for Grand Bend assis-
ted by Richard Brown. The
first period ended with Zurich
still unable to get it together
enough to score.
The second period was just
the reverse of the first. Within
the first minute of the period,
Zurich scored twice, Doug
Schade and Dean Armstrong
picking up goals as well as
assisting each other. The rest
of the second period was a
close fought battle but Zurich,
despite the advantage of a
power play, failed to score
again. Grand Bend was also
a little rattled and they too
failed to score.
The third period the game
opened up as Dean Armstrong
put Zurich in the lead with an
unassisted goal at the one
minute mark. Grand Bend came
back with two answering goals
to give them the lead as Daryn
Courtney and Robbie Mennen
found the mark, assists going
to Robbie Mennen, Richard
Brown and Daryn Courtney.
Not to be outdone, the Zurich
Atoms fought back to score
twice, taking the lead once
more as Derek McKinnon and
Dean Armstrong scored un-
assisted. Richard Brown tied
the game for Grand Bend at
the fourteen minute mark of the
third period, assisted by Daryn
Courtney, but that was to be
the end of the Grand Bend
scoring. Zurich powered on as
Dean Armstrong scored twice
to give them the victory, seven
to five. Dean was assisted on
his goals by Darcy Martin, .
Doug Schade and Derek Mc-
Kinnon. Dean Armstrong man-
aged to gain six points in the
game, getting five of Zurich's
seven goals and one assist.
The Forgotten Reindeer
We alll know that there are nine;
But in my mind;
There are ten;
Yes ten, counting,Ben; "
Ben was very small;
That's why we hardly hear him at all;
If I was Santa I'd give him a chance;
But Santa doesn't give him a glance;
There is probably a good reason;
But I know he won't be heard again this season.

a pair of goals by Latta and
Green. Before the buzzer went,
Robert Willert added another
from Kris Bedard.
The scoring was even in the
second period with Kerry
Bedard hitting the target,
aided by Kris Bedard and then
Wraith scored for Lucan.
In the third frame, it was
Zurich all the way with Kris
Bedard scoring the first counter
and Robert Willert with the
other.
