Caring for
Cyclamen
One of the most colorful and
popular plants at Christmas
time is the Cyclamen.
R.A. Fleming, Ontario Minis-
try of Agriculture and Food
horticulturist, says Cyclamen,
like most Christmas plants,
grows best in cooler temper-
atures of 12 to 15 degrees C
and high humidity.
He suggests ttie plant be
placed in a south, west or
east -facing window for optimum
light.
"To keep Cyclamen in good
condition for the holiday sea-
son," he says, "water slowly
and thoroughly with lukewarm
water when necessary until a
few drops come through the
drainage hole at the bottom
of the pot."
Cyclamen plants should be
kept away from hot air regis-
ters, radiators or hot bright
lights during the evening.
To help prolong the life of
the plant, place it in a cool
room when it is not required
for decoration.
