known and familiar figure to
the residents of Bayfield for
many years and sympathy is
extended to his family.
UNITED CHURCH
St. Andrews United Church
held their regular services
Sunday and would like their
members and friends to remem-
ber the White Gift service
next Sunday, December 12,
which will be followed by a
pot luck lunch and the annual
Sunday School concert is to be
held the same afternoon, all
the children of the area are
invited.
The lovely "candle light"
service will be held Sunday,
December 19.
BAPTIST CHURCH
The regular Sunday services
were held at the Bayfield
Baptist Church with the Pastor,
Rev. Brian Harrison in charge
and Mrs. Muriel Snider at the
piano and Miss Shirley Keys
as organist. For his sermon
Sunday morning the Pastor
took his text from first Corin-
thians 9:25. His theme was
"Rewards". After the morning
service the monthly Commun-
ion service was held.
Saturday, December 11, at
7 p.m. the Sunday School
concert will be held at the
Church. All members and famil-
ies and friends are asked to
keep this evening in mind.
There will be bus service for
all those who come to Sunday
School by bus, also their
families.
U.C.W. meeting
St. Andrews United Church
Women Christmas meeting was
enjoyed. by 40 members and
their 17 guests.
• Doris Reddoch welcomed
the ladies and Esther Makins
read the Christmas story as
found in St. Luke.
'Mildred Merrill was then in
charge of a carol sing with
Molly Cox at the piano. This
included a little information on
the origin of each carol with
readings by Mrs. Carter.
Mrs. Reddoch told a delight-
ful story of a church built .400
years ago which had no means
of 'lighting except the lanterns
each family brought to light
their corner of the church. The
custom has been passed on
from generation to generation.
Christmas customs in other
lands were then illustrated.
A play with Donna West-
lake as reader was given.
It was called "What does it
mean?" Jean Lindsay, Elva
Metcalfe, Rosemarie Taman
and her girls, Lisa and Leigh-
anne, Carol Fisher and Mary-
anne Yates each had a part
in illustrating different mean -
