PERSONALS
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lauden-
back and family from Toronto
were at their home in the vil-
lage on the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. George Cant -
rick and family, Oakland Coun-
ty, Michigan, spent the week
end at their home here.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Erick-
son spent Saturday and Sunday
in Port Huron, Michigan..
Mr. Ray Schell attended the
funeral of his cousin, Mr. Gor-
don Schell of Innerkip, in Wood-
stock on Wednesday. He was
also an overnight guest with
his daughter, Mrs. Effie Free-
man, Woodstock.
The village people are all
very pleased to see Miss Nancy
Fawcett at home and able to
be out in a wheelchair.
Mr. Lloyd Huffman has also
returned home from the hospi-
tal in London, and is recover-
ing from his surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Lance
spent a few days last week in
_-their Imine in the village.
BAPTIST CHURCH
The regular services were
held in Bayfield Baptist Church
on Sunday with the Pastor,
Rev. Brian Harrison in charge.
A communion service was held
at the close of the morning
service.
Winsome
Wheaties
The meeting of Bayfield II
4-H Club was held at the home
of Mrs. Joan Merner, Novem-
ber 9 at 4 o'clock. The meeting
opened with the pledge and the
roll call was "My two free
choices of cereal from the
members pamplet",
The club's name is "The
Winsome Wheaties".
At this meeting they made
hot water gingerbread with
lemon and brown sugar sauces.
The seventh meeting of the
"'Winsome Wheaties'' 4-H club
was held at Mrs. Joan Merner's
home on November 11. The
meeting was opened with the
pledge and roll call was "To
have a label from a cereal
product".

They made Mexican Chili
rolls. This meeting was also a
party and several desserts were
made to go with the Mexican
Chili rolls.
Recreation
and Parks
The Zurich Recreation, Parks
and Community Centre Board
approved accounts payable in
the amount of $7,039.18 at its
regular meeting. This figure
included the annual debenture
debt payment of $4,825.00.
The outstanding accounts
receivable were reviewed and
a recommendation was made to
council that two of the accounts
be written off.
The annual membership fee
of $10 was paid to the Lake
Huron Zone of the Ontario
Municipal Recreation Associa-
tion and since the upcoming
Annual Conference being held
in Walkerton on November 20th
is to include workshops and
panel presentations on "Shar-
ing the Cost" it was recom-
mended three delegates attend
from the Board with relative
expenses to be paid.
The question of joining a
South Huron Recreation Asso-
ciation as proposed by Exeter
was discussed, the matter hav-
ing been referred to the board
by Council. After some dis-
cussion it was decided the
board would recommeqd not
joining in such an association.
Large crowd at Bayfield ratepayers meeting
Bayfield Ratepayers Associa-
tion meeting was held Monday
November 15 in the Council
Chambers of the Municipal
Building. The large crowd
showed the increasing interest
in the affairs of the village.
Mr. Gordon Graham, clerk of
the village, was , nominated for
Chairman for the evening.
Reeve Ed Oddleifson was
re-elected by acclamation.
There willbe no election for the
School Board or the Separate
School Board. Stanley Township
Council was re-elected by
acclamation.
The nominees for Council-
lors are: Don Warner, Frank
Bruch, Robert Lynn, Joe Chap-
man, Milt Van Patter, Doug
Sinammon, Frank McFadden,
Milvena Erickson.
The chairman called on the
reeve, Ed Oddleifson for his
report to the ratepayers associa-
tion. He said approximately 30
meetings were held. He report-
ed the $12,000 Wintario grant
has been approved for the new
library, the tenders are still
undecided. The total contri-
butions to date are $11,500.
About the arena—there is much
work to be done but unless
there is an accumulated amount
of snow on roof or severe winds,
the arena will remain open.
This work is estimated at a
possible cost of $50,000. 75
percent of which a Wintario
grant will cover, Each of the
present Council members gave
a report.
Finances— Frank McFadden.
Mr. McFadden has had 13
years with the Council of Bay-
field which gives him the capa-
bilities,he is retired, so has the
availibility and the unfinished
business gives him responsi-
bility.
Public Works, Street pav-
ing, etc. —Don Warner, Don
gave a report on the paving of
the streets, The first five year
plan has been completed and
• the second five year plan has
been started. In four years
all the streets should be drain-
ed and paved. Don mentioned
also how gratifying it is to
have so many running for coun-
cil.
Parks, street lights and
recreation—Milvena Erickson.
She thanked everyone for their
help in making. the Centennial
such a great success. She re-
ported the Centennial Commit-
tee ended $3,000 ahead. Being
the only woman on the council
she said she is a councillor not a
council person and was pleased
to be treated as such. She also
mentioned the satisfaction of
the interest shown by the good
crowd.
Harbor and beaches—Frank
Burch. Mr. Burch reported on
the work done at the river and
the lake. He mentioned he has
been on council for two years
and has enjoyed it. He added
very emphatically—Vote as you
like but vote!
The nominated men for coun-
cil each gave a short talk on
why they were running for
council.
These were: Joe Chapman—
Likes villages and .would like
to contribute to the business
of running it. He is old enough
to learn from those older but
young enough to listen to those
younger.
Bob Lynn—Acclamation elec-
tions not healthy. Although
spending most of his time in
Toronto is prepared to attend
all meetings.
Doug Sinammon —Promises
to work to the best of his
ability, and not only talk to
people but he willing to really
listenw-

financially Bayfield is in good
shape and in nearly all phases
well within the budget. Brig.
Clift moved a vote of thanks to
the reeve and clerk and present
council. Seconded by Dr. Shep-
herd. Meeting ended with a
social hour.
