CONSITT 236-4332• or 236-4560 ZURICH — ONTARIO Ask moderation in lights As the province heads into winter, Ontario Hydro warns that consumption of electric power goes into high grear, and asks for moderation and conservation. The return to standard time, shorter daylight periods and colder weather bring, almost overnight, a dramatic jump in daily demands of two to three thousand kilowatts, according to H.K. Wright, Hydro's Director of Energy Conser- / / / / / / • • / / / I 4, I I I / 4, / • Y • • • / • • • I. I •• • I vation. This is the time too, when plans are made to brighten the early winter with Christmas lighting displays, While not wanting to reduce the spirit of Christmas, Hydro points out the need to moderate the size of lighting display as part of its conservation program. It has also adopted the slogan of "Off until 7 p.m., and off again at bedtime," regarding indoor and exterior lighting displays for home, stores and offices. Hydro does not anticipate a problem in meeting winter power needs this year, but points out electric power con- sumption continues on a rising curve. Last winter, for instance, five all-time record peak de- mands were set in successive months. Any savings along the way, such as with Christmas displays, help to keep these increases more moderate. x}+;:}::::4\t:}i:•}:ti4'4t:'v: R{>:'+}+}:•}:{iti}:tij;x• i}::•:+:4}Y.}•\ \} 4+v:+ 4 'iS44+ti;;•Li; }: 14S7 OA'TN, POCkFT6100k f004 SAP CS ::4:..a..a:..h:::.....:•.....m..}.++,:::.p.,....n...v..•::....5........a.:S...r.+...4.....:.+..... a...... ....a\h\\, .: ax ...: .,..
