BARLEY BUDDIES The seventh meeting of Hen- sall I, the Barley Buddies was held at Mrs. Moir's house on November 9 at 8 p.m. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge and the roll call which was ansered by 10 girls. The leaders read a lesson out of their books while Mexican Chili Rolls cooked in the oven. after the meeting ended, they enjoy- ed the rolls. Sandy Nixon and Clara Vol - land are to prepare an idea for an exhibit and prepare and read the commentary on Achie- vement Day which is to be held at the Seaforth High School on January 8. The next meeting will be held at Mrs. Tinney's home on November 23. Foster Passes Mrs. Allota Foster of Hensall passed away at the Queensway Nursing Home Saturday November 13, 1976 in her 87th year. She was the wife of the late James A. Foster. Surviving are two sons : Harold, Hensall; Ray, Clinton; two daughters: Mrs. Harry (Jean) Smith, London; Mrs. William (Marie) Howe; Toronto; One brother: Barney Hildebrandt, Seaforth; one sister: Mrs. Laura Woods, Windsor; Thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive. 'Church Zurich were: William Foster, Ross Parry, John Hart, Stephen Smith, James Foster and Lewis Erb. Huron hay capital Huron County continues to be the hay capital of the world. Russell Bolton of Seaforth won the hay championship at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto Friday for the fifth consecutive year. He took the hay title over all competitors throughout the world for the first time in 1972 and hasn't missed•since. This marks the 13th time in 18 years that the hay championship has been won by a farmer from Huron. The first winner from Huron was Robert Allen of Brucefield in 1958. He repeated in 1962. Russell Dallas, also of Brucefield is a three time champion in 1963, 1969 and 1971. Robert Fotheringham took top hay honours in 1965 and 1966 and Wilber Keys, RR 4, Seaforth was the champion in 1964. To meet this demand, the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities Apprenticeship Program offers systematic on-the-job training and related classroom instruction in many trades. Depending on the trade, an apprenticeship varies in length from 2 to 5 years, and apprentices are paid an iricreasing percentage of the going rate for fully -qualified tradespeople. At the conclusion of the training period, an apprentice will qualify for a Certificate of Apprenticeship and, where applicable, a Certificate of Qualification.
