Mr. Russell Erratt who has
been a patient in St, Joseph's
Hospital London for several
weeks undergoing surgery was
transferred to South Huron
Hospital, Exeter.
Mr. & Mrs. John Ireland and
Tracey of Danbury, Connecticut
and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Watson,
Seaforth were recent visitors
with Mrs. C. Christie,
Malcolm McEwen of Parsons
Airways, Thompson, Manitoba is
visiting with his parents Mr. &
Mrs. Hugh McEwen, -
Rev, W.D. Jarvis conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Sunday. The sermon
subject "I just wanted to tell
you." . Mrs. Malcolm Dougall
presided at the organ. The
Couples Club will meet at the
Church on, Wednesday November
24th at 8:15 p.m,
The Rev. G.A. Anderson was
in charge of the service at St.
Paul's Anglican Church on
Sunday, November 14. The
flowers were in memory of the
late Nancy Riley.
Mrs. Cecil Pepper and Mrs.
Carl Payne attended the London
Area Women's Institute Con-
vention, held at the Tillsonburg
Sports Centre, last . Tuesday
and Wednesday.
Mrs. Pearl Passmore and
Mr. Sid Pullman were luncheon
guests with Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Payne on Sunday.
Mr. Oliver Bedard of Sarnia
visited on Saturday with his
sister and brother-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Oesch.
Mr. Wilbert Dilling is home
after undergoing surgery in
University Hospital, London.
Mrs. J.C. Hill of Stratford
spent the weekend with her
niece, Mrs. Elizabeth Riley.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Sandra Hulley of Seaforth
was the guest speaker at the
November meeting of the Hen-
sall Women's Institute, held in
the Legion Hall on Wednes-
day evening, November 10.
For three months she lived in
Belo Horizonte, Brazil, as part
of a family of 11 and was able
to fascinate all with her experi-
ences.
Sandra flew from New York
to Rio de Janeiro and then on
from there for an other. hour to
reach Belo Horizonte, which
means "Beautiful horizon".
The city is built on a moun-
tain side and boasts wonderful
sunsets. Brazil is the fifth
largest country in the world,
is hot and dry and the people
are either very rich or very
poor. Government restrictions
are severe, school is held from
6:30 - 11:30 a.m. and classes
can be as big as 200.
Rio de Janeiro is the most
beautiful city in the world and
is dominated by a 100 foot high
statue of Christ, "Christ of
the Andes", high on a mountain
top overlooking the city. There
are many beautiful .churches
in the city full of gold carvings
although many have been stol-
en.
A report of the recent Board
meeting held in Hensall United
Church was given by Mrs.
James McAllister and a col-
lection taken for the Children's
Aid Society Christmas fund and
arrangements made for parties
to be given at both the Blue
Water Rest Home and Huron -
view in December. An amusing
skit on a conversation between
two white rats was read by
Mrs. Cecil Pepper and Mrs.
Ruby Triebner. Mrs. Isabel
Rogerson gave an instrumental
and a paper on Agriculture,
written by Mrs. Thelma Chap-
pel, `Cromarty, was read by
Mrs. Nellie Riley entitled
"Farming is like a wheel-
barrow—it stands still unless
you push it".
President, Mrs. Cecil Pepper
chaired the meeting which was
on Agriculture and Canadian
Industries. Hostesses were
Mrs. Vera Brintnell and Mrs.
Rosa Harris and programme
conveners were Mrs. Nellie
Riley and Edna Pepper. The
next • meeting will be held at
the Blue Water Rest Home on
December 8 after entertain-
ing the residents there.
SENIOR CITIZENS
Mrs, Mary Greg of Clinton,
president of Huron County
zone 8 was guest speaker at
Hensall Senior Citizens club on
Tuesday, November 9. She gave
a most interesting report of the
Convention held at Mohawk
Univeristy, St. Catharines on
August 9-11. The Honorable
Pauline McGibbon, an honour-
ary member of Senior Citizens,
was guest speaker at the con-
vention. She quoted the Hon-
ourable Louis St, Laurant as
saying, "the older people of
Canada never asked me for any-
thing and they never got it".
Aging is everybody's business,
Mrs. Greg invited the mem-
bers to be guests of the Clinton
Club for a social evening on
November 17, Wednesday.
Mrs, Rosa Harris thanked
Mrs. Greg and presented her
with a gift.
President, Mr. Percy Camp-
bell announced an invitation
from the Kinsmen for a bus
trip to Wingham on Monday,
December 13 to CKNX TV tap-
ing of the Circle 8 Ranch
show, Bus will leave the town -
hall at 6:30 p.m. and only 35
seats available to the first
35 people to phone Bevan

ettes will serve refreshments at
the Club Room.
It was decided that the hall
will be open on Tuesday and
Fridays in the afternoon from
1:30 p.m. for crafts and other
activities.
A bus trip to Agryle Mall,
London, on Wednesday, Nov-
ember 24 for a shopping day
. was suggested, leaving the
townhall at 9:30 a.m. and even-
ing dinner at Ponderosa. Con-
tact Mrs. Carl Payne if you
wish to go along.
The entertainment committ-
ee, Mr. and Mrs. •Clarence
Volland and Mrs. Elizabeth
Riley then took charge of pro-
gressive euchre. Winners were
Mr. Bert Hoton, Mrs. Mabel
Munn, Mrs. Madeline Har-
burn, Mrs. Ruby Bell and Mrs.
Rosa Harris. Lucky cup, Mr.
Gordon Love. The refreshments
committee served a delicious
lunch and a fine evening closed
with the Queen.
