Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Schatz accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Hodgins to Guelph, Sunday, where they visited with Professor & Mrs. L. A. Burke. "Happy Birthday" to Mrs. Susan Snider, Blue Water Rest Home, formerly of Dashwood, who is 90 today, Thursday, November 11. Nutty Nibblers Nutty Nibblers, Dashwood Club 2 held their sixth meeting November 1 at Dashwood Community Centre. Roll call "My two free choice cereal recipes" was answered by six- teen members. The girls made brown sugar sauce and lemon sauce and compared the two along with Oatmeal muffins and hot water Gingerbread. Main topic for discussion was "Con- venience, Cost and the Con- sumer. Women Institute The Education and Cultural activities group was in charge of the November meeting of Dash- wood Women's Institute with Mrs. Earl Keller, convener. President Mrs. Ray Rader, dealt with the business. An in- vitation from Kippen East W.I. was accepted for November 17. The Institute will again award a turkey to the best decorated home in Dashwood. A generous donation was made to the volunteer firemen who are purchasing a tanker truck. Other donations were made to the Childrens' Aid; Dashwood Men's club for the children's Christmas party; and the War Memorial Hospital. In the absence of the District Director, Mrs. Ray Rader gave a brief report of the District Board meeting. Mrs. Earl Keller agreed to be the District Agriculture and Canadian Industries convener. Roll call ,was "A way to im- prove your education when you are too old to go to school". Mrs. Earl Keller, chairlady for the program discussed the motto, "Cultivation does as much for the soul as it does for the soil". Several visitors were present to hear guest speakers, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Rammeloo, who were in- troduced by Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan. They were most in- teresting, discussing their green houses and with the plants they brought the proper method of planting, fertilizer and watering. These plants, soil, fertilizer etc. were later offered for sale. ZURICH LIONS were honoured with four guests at their last meeting. These three girls, from left to right, Pam O'Brien, Cindy O'Brien and Brenda Gelinas voluntarily delivered tele- phone books for the local club and also welcomed the guest speaker, Governor Dougald Campbell. Citizens News Photo Area P.U.C. nominations open There will be at least one new member on two area Public Utility Commissions when the upcoming nominations and Pay raise cut at Rest Home Donald Tansley, federal anti- inflation administrator, on Mon- day sharply reduced negotiated pay raises for employees of the Blue Water Rest Home at Zurich, by chopping first-year increases to nine per cent from 15.7 per cent. Mr. Tansley said the employ- ees, represented by Local 210 of the Service Employees' Union, should receive pay in- creases of nine per cent in the first year and eight per cent in the second year of a two-year agreement. The workers had originally been allowed a 15.7 -per -cent raise by the anti-inflation board but the union requested a re- view of the recommendation by Mr. Tansley. Egg protein is so near per- fection that scientists often use it as a. standard to mea- ' sure the .value of protein in other foods. NOMINATION Township of .Stanley Notice is hereby given to municipal electors of the Township of Stanley that nominations will be received by the undersigned for the following positions on the Stanley Township Council. Reeve Deputy -Reeve Council (3 to be elected) Term -- 1977 & 1978 The nomination period will commence on November 11, 1976 and will conclude on Novem- ber 15th, 1976 at 5:00 p.m. NOTE: The required nomination form must be used and may be obtained at the Stanley Township Office. Mel Graham Clerk -Treasurer Township of Stanley elections are completed. Veteran Commissioner Cam Chapman has decided not to seek re-election in Grand Bend. Chapman said this week, "No, I'm not going to run. I've been on it for 15 years and that is long enough." The second elected Com- missioner at the summer resort is Propser Van Bruaene and he has indicated he would be prepared to serve another term. The other vacancy will be in Mr. Venner away on a business trip could not be reached but according to his wife, "No, he isn't going to run." The other nresent T-Tensall PT TC Commissioner Charlie Hay and he said Thursday, " I will likely be in the running." In Zurich, the Hydro Com- -mission is made up of a standing committee of council and nominations are not necessary. Hensall where Rodger Venner will likely not be seeking another term.
