Maplewoods
a success
Over 50 people attended a
nutrition presentation by Made-
line Roske, public health nurse
for this area and Mrs. Liz
McHugh, public health nurse
from Clinton at Maplewoods
apartments on Wednesday.
The film show was entitled
"Celebration" and dealth with
the importance of being active
all through your life. Co-
ordinated with the idea of re-
maining active was the import-
ance of good nutrition regard-
less of age.
Games following the film got
those present actually involved
in thinking in terms of what
they eat and how , they feel
about different types of food.
For example, the nurses held
aloft one food group at a time
and asked people to think back
to what they had eaten the day
before. If they had eaten some-
thing from that particular group
they were asked to stand and
remain standing until a food
group was held up they had
not eaten from. Anyone left
standing would of course have
eaten a well balanced diet the
day before.
Ms. Roske emphasized the
idea that good nutrition is
CELEBRATION A SUCCESS—The film "Celebration" present-
ed by the public health nurse for this area, Madelaine Roske,
at Maplewoods last week attracted a large crowd of interested
important the year round but
especially during the winter
months. At that time of year
people tend to slow down, be-
coming less active and perhaps
a little lazier over our eating
habits. She felt now was a good
time to' assess how to keep
ourselves in shape and eating
well over the winter months
to come.

United Church leaders
st face the truth
It is time for United Church
leaders to face the unpleasant
truths about declining mem-
bership, The United Church
Ovserver says editorially in its
current issue.
United Church `has done
wen in facing national issues and
social concerns," The Observer
says. "We fear that we (are) not
prepared to deal with the
realities of declining mem-
bership, Christian education, lay
activity and evangelism.
"We may enjoy emotional
discussions and pass countless
resolutions < on international af-
fairs, and never ask ourselves
what we should be doing about
the fact that the most privileged,
the most affluent and at one time
the best organized church in
Canada has been declining
steadily,"
