BY MRS. BILL CHESSELL
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Goudie
and Grace from Coronach,
Saskatchewan, visited last week
with their cousins, Mr. and
Mrs. Mervin Hayter.
The sympathy of the com-
munity is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Stephenson in the
loss of her father, Orval Beuer-
mann, who passed away last
Friday in University Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Web-
ster are adding a new kitchen
and bath to the west side of
their house.
Little Krista McAsh came
home from hospital on Friday,
but had to be re -admitted on
Sunday. We hope she will
soon be well.
Joyce Dowson and her broth-
er Ken Jewitt were in Saskat-
chewan for a few days last week
to attend the funeral of their
aunt, Mrs. Alma Banks of
Hazenmore. The weather was
very cold while they were
there.
We're sorry to hear that
Harold Dowson is in University
Hospital. We sincerely hope he
will soon be well enough to
come home.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Taylor and
their boys Sandy and Andrew of
Trenton, spent the weekend
with Rev. and Mrs. Taylor.
The contractors finished in-
stalling the new furnace in the
church a week ago, and some of
the men have been replacing
the black ash ceiling boards in
the kitchen.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. John Ostrom, who cele-
brated their fortieth wedding
anniversary last week. On
Wednesday evening their sons
treated them to dinner at the
Benmiller Inn. When they
returned, they were surprised
to find a houseful of relatives
there to help them celebrate.

only time the Hawks were able to
hold an edge on the scoreboard
was early in the first period when
they were ahead 1-0 only a short
time.
Each team was able to fire one

minutes of play. Gerald Rycroft
was the Port Stanley marksman

Exeter club on a three-way
combination with Matt Muller
and Perry Pooley.
Jeff Hodge and Ray Haight
scored for Port Stanley in the
second period before the final
Exeter goal was chalked up.
Defenceman Phil Knight was
successful on a play set up by
Paul Pooley while the Hawks
were enjoying a one man ad-

A New, Safe Method for Stripping Furniture
The exclusive Velvet Touch furniture stripping process incor•
porates the use of non•llammable cold solvents that solely
remove oil paints and finishes and most sIo,ns leaving the
wood smooth and beautiful. Most wooden surfaces stripped
nh Ihts exclusive method are left with the some finishing
characteristics as the wood processed when the furniture was
new. This method does not destroy or disturb the patina Ihot
hos token many, many years to acquire. When good old Inc.•
more with that beautiful patina supplied by age is dipped
into a lank of hot water and other chemicals the patina is
usually destroyed.
The Velvet Touch Method treols furniture so gently that very
little sanding is neeessory pear to staining and finishing. The
average chest 01 drawers or dining room table requires only
a Fine sanding that is usuolly ccomplished m about fifteen
mutes. Glue is not affected by the Velvet Touch inethodol

Th,, gxpmduswe Velvet Touch method incorporates the use of ex•
pensive materials and hand labor.. The cost a therefore usual•
ly somewhm higher than the cost to hove. your furniture
dipped vita o hot lye or acid solution. If your Iurnilure is
worth stripping and refinnhmg then it is certomly worth the
slight extra charge to get the pb done without domoging the •
furniture. In most noses when a veneered dem that is wotlh
