BLUE WATER PEST HOME
...104...sam-`_.4A.
Even though the sky was grey
and most of the weekend rath-
er dreary, inside the Home was
a hive of activity and the sound
of happy voices and laughter
could be heard as families and
friends arrived to celebrate the
annual Thanksgiving dinner
with loved ones. Platte'r after
platter of turkey and ham were
consumed, along with all the
trirrunings plus the apple and
pumpkin pies. Although the
most of the Residents ,were ex-
hausted at the end of the even-
ing, the day was a happy one
for them and they will probably
spend most of their time rest-
ing for a few days.
We were very pleased to have
little Miss Dorcas Gingerich,
Mrs. Jack Turkheim, Miss Idel-
la Gable and Mrs. Margaret
Coates who presided at the or-
gan during the afternoon and
early evneing providing pleas-
ant background music. We
thank them sincerely for their
contribution to the success of
our day. We also wish to thank
all Auxiliary members and
other helpers who relinquished
their Sunday afternoon and
evening to assist in the dining
room and kitchen under the
able leadership of Mrs. Ellen
Horn. Without their assistance
this undertaking would be im-
possible.

Hearts are lonely and dear.

Apple crop
excellent
At this time of year, very
crisp, juicy, crunchy Ontario
applies are being picked and
shipped to food stores. They're
super—treat yourself to some.
The quality of this year's
apple crop is excellent. Rela-
tively warm sunny days, cool
nights and adequate moisture
have produced near ideal
conditions for apples. They are
well colored, and of a good
size.
Food specialists at the Ontar-
io Food Council, Ministry of
Agriculture and Food, remind
you that an apple is usually
picked when it is mature. How-
ever, the ripening process does
not stop. It continues...unless
you slow it down. For this
reason they advise you to keep
the apples cold after you
purchase them. Store them in
perforated plastic bags (to allow
them to breathe) in the refriger-
ator crisper.
If you worry that the family
won't eat the apples because
they are out of sight, stick a
note on the refrigerator which
reads as follows: "The apples
are super--I-lave you had one
today?"
