Family affairs topic of meeting
Enterainment was the high-
light of the Women's Institute
October meeting held last Wed-
nesday, October 13, at the
Hensall Legion Hall. The topic
was Family and Consumer
Affairs. The Miller family from
Zurich playing two guitars,
drums and moroccos played
selections and requests from
the audience for about half an
hour and were keenly appreci-
ated. The meeting was chaired
and opened by the president,
Mrs. Cecil Pepper, reading a
poem, "Thanks" and a humor-
ous reading, "The Passing
Phase" was read by Mrs. Jack
Corbett.
During the business session
it was decided to contribute
to the C,N.I.B. as usual, a
letter about the Huron County
Women's Institute Bursary was
read and 16 members answered
the roll call, "Name a nutri-
tious food beginning with your
initial". There were six visitors.
Next month there will be a
special collection for the Child-
ren's Aid Society.
Mrs. Peper gave a report of
the Fall Rally held at Dash -
United Church Service
The service at the Hensall
United Church on Sunday was
conducted by Rev. Don Beck
with Mr. John Blackwell At the
organ and Miss Karen Mc-
Allister at the Piano. Two organ
and piano duets were played
during the service, "Supplica-
tion" by Franz Schurbert and
"Allegretto" by Joseph Hay -
Barley
Buddies
The third meeting of the Hen-
sall 1 4-11 Club, the Barley
Buddies, was held at the home
of Lisa Hamather when the
members made nuts and bolts
and cherry -bran squares and
discussed the merits of the
different grains in a regular
diet. The next meeting will be
held at the home of Becky
Baker.
The second meeting of the
Hensall 3 441 Club, met on
Tuesday, October 12 when 10
members answered the roll
call, "State the cereals you have
used in your diet today" . The
pledge was repeated, and a
discussion took place on using
whole -grain cereals and cooked
cereals. The girls then pre-
pared onion rice and dogwoods,
and all enjoyed the results
afterwards as well as a drink of
lemonade.
Obituaries
The former Clara Sararas wife
of Roy A MacDonald, Hensall,
passed away in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter on Thursday,
October 14 in her 72nd year.
Surviving is her husband, Roy A
MacDonald, mother Mrs.
Elizabeth Sararas, Hensall,
brother Earl, Weston; Ross,
Hensall; sisters Mrs. Laura
Hubbert, Toronto; Mrs. Edna
Caldwell, Exeter; Mrs. Jack
(Greta) Reid, Mississauga; Mrs.
Doris Bonthron, London.
Funeral service was held from
the Bonthron Funeral Home,
Hensall, Saturday October 16 at 2
p.m. with Rev. Don Beck of-
ficiating. Interment in Staffa
Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Carter
Kerslake, Cliff Miller, Spencer
Jeffrey, Gordon Hoggarth, Dick
Taylor, Harold Coleman. Flower
bearers were Bill Gilfillan, Allan
Sararas, Harold Caldwell and
David Sararas.
Lloyd McDonald
Lloyd McDonald, well-known
Hay township farmer died at
South Huron Hospital, Exeter on
Saturday, Cotober 16. Son of the
late Mr. & Mrs. John McDonald
he is survived by his wife Anna
(Patterson) one twin -sister Mrs.
Russell (Lulu) Love, Kincardine,
one niece and five nephews. A
sister Mrs, J. G. (Olive) Davis
predeceased him,
Funeral service was held from
the Bonthron Funeral Home on
Tuesday conducted by the Rev.
Don Beck. Interment in Exeter
Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Harry
Smith, Bill Rowcliffe, Ray
Ingram, Sandy Munn, Bill and
Joe Bengough. Flower Bearers
were Donald Davis, Leonard
Davis, Douglas Love and Murray
Love.

topic, "One with Christ" and
pointed out that as Christ paid
the ransom for us with His
life and blood, so we should be
willing to pay a ransom for Him
and our friends and neighbours.
The flowers in the church were
from the funeral of Mrs. Clara
McDonald.

The youth group of Hensall
United Church met for the
second time on Sunday even-
ing. Only five members attend-
ed and an invitation is out for
all teenagers connected with the
United Church to attend the
next meeting which will be
held on Sunday, October 31,
and will be a Hallowe'en Party,
everyone to dress up.
