Last Monday evening the 3
M's Club of St. Andrews United
Church held a surprise going
away party for Peggy Campbell,
who is leaving to take up nurs-
ing in Clear Water, Florida.
The party was held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. John Siertsema
and also honoured Peggy's
parents, John and Yvonne
Campbell, who were celebrat-
ing ,their 25th Wedding Anni-
versary. Before a crowd of
nearly 50, Phyllis Campbell
read the original account of
the wedding 25 years ago and
Carol Penhale and Marilyn
Haw put on a wedding skit.
Rev. Reddick recited a poem
and then presented Peggy with
an Irish linen wall hanging with
a very appropriate poem print-
ed on it and also money pinned
on it.
A Bar-B-Que was held to
finish off the evening and it
was reported everyone had a
very enjoyable evening.
It has been brought to our
attention that many dogs are
running loose in the Village and
make a nuisance of themselves
by tearing garbage bags and
strewing garbage over lawns
and driveways. Dog owners
please keep your dogs tied or
at least inside until the garbage
is picked up on Mondays.

Latimer of Downsview visted
with Mrs. G.L. Knight.
Mr. and Mrs. George Mc-
Cluskie and Bud Desbarats
visited a couple days with Mr.
and Mrs. R. Roy Fitzsimons,
Terry and Kelso. Bud had just
graduated last week from Radio
College in Toronto.
James Armstrong, youngest
son of Mr. and Mrs. William
Armstrong, left Iast week for
the College of Agricultural
Technology in Ridgetown.
Joe Koene, Morris Sauve
Bob Orr and son Bill spent the
weekend duck hunting in the
Bruce Peninsula. .
Friends of Lloyd Huffman will
be sorry to learn he has been
confined to Alexander and
Marine Hospital, Goderich,
and is being transferred to
University Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gale of
the Tank and Tummy Restau-
rant entertained friends froth
Mississauga on Saturday.
Mr. Ray Schell spent Tuesday
in Woodstock attending the
funeral of Mrs. Alex Reach.
Mr. and Mrs. John Young
entertained John's four broth-
• ers and their wives at an annual
family reunion last Wednesday:

Unit 2 of St. Andrews U.C.W.
held their monthly meeting at
the home of Mrs. Don Campbell
September 15. Business of the
past summer was discussed and
plans made for the coming
fall -including the Bayfield
U.C.W. are to prepare the
Devotions for the.. Huron -Perth
Presbyterial of the U.C.W.,
which is to be held at North
Side United Church, Seaforth,
Tuesday, October 5.
Sunday, October 10, is to be
the Harvest Thanksgiving ser-
vice and members are to be,
reminded to bring their fruits,
vegetables, flowers, etc. to
the Church on Saturday, Octo-
ber 9.
Wednesday, October 13, the
joint Thank Offering meeting
will be held in the Church at
8 p.m. with Mrs. Vandyk of
Shakespeare as guest speaker.
Mrs. Vandyke has recently
visited Bangledesh. to it should
he an interesting meeting.
All the ladies in the community
are welcome. At the close of
the meeting, lunch was served
by the ladies in charge.
The monthly meeting of the
Bayfield Baptist W.M.F. was
held Tuesday evening in the
basement of the Church. The
new officers were in charge and
are: President, Mrs. Muriel
Snider; vice-president, Mrs.
Cathi Cullen; secretary -treasur-
er, Mrs. Phyllis Nicholson;
and the quilt committee, Mrs.
Gladys Talbot, Mrs. Carleen
Phoenix and Mrs. Suzanne
Spiers. With Cathi Cullen at
the piano, the meeting was
opened with the Hymn "Tis
so sweet to trust in Jesus" -
followed with prayer by Mrs.
Kerr. Psalm 34, verses 1-8 was
read in unison. The minutes
were read and adopted. An
invitation to Calvary Baptist
Church in Goderich, October
14 was read and accepted.
After singing "Trusting Jesus"
Mrs. Diana Harrison gave an
interesting and informative
talk on "Prayer" and out-
lined some of the reasons
our prayers aren't answered.
The meeting closed with a
Circle of Prayer. Refreshments
were served and a social half
hour was enjoyed.
Sunday services at the Bay-
field Baptist Church were well
attended with the Pastor, Rev.
Brian Harrison speaking at
both. At the evening service
he continued the Study from the
Book of Ephesians using as his
theme the Hymn, "More like
the Master I would ever be",
stressing that our Christian life
should start by imitating the
Saviour. A Fireside was enjoyed
following the Service with the
Church ladies serving refresh-
ments.

Sunday afternoon, Pastor
Harrison spoke to the residents
at the 13luewater Rest Home in
Zurich. Pastor and Mrs. Harri-
son sang a lovely duet, "Bless-
ed Redeemer", accompanied
by Shirley Keys at the piano.
Shirley also played for the
Hymns. Pastor Harrison spoke
on the Second Corning of Christ
and the Rapture of the Church.
This is a very worth while
service and much appreciated
by the elderly people who find
it difficult to get out to Church.
MUSIC IS FOR DANCING and that is just what Andrea Bell, left and Leanne Rooth of Exeter were •
doing at the Exeter Fair Festival Sunday afternoon in the Hensall .arena. Both the girls are four
years old.
