The announcement was made
following completion of the
board's audit for the 1975
crop year and which was pre-
sented to a meeting of the board
on Monday, September 20th.
Mr. Kleiman said plans are
underway for preparaion and
mailing of approximately 16,000
individual producer cheques
which should be in the hands of
producers about the end of
September.
In the pooling system, pro-
ducers receive an initial pay-
ment when they sell their
wheat plus interim and final
payments. Mr. Kleiman ex-
plained that to date producers
have received a total of $2.85
per bushel, made up of a $2.00
initial payment and .85c per
bushel interim payment on
last year's crop.
The board official further
explained that the final pay-
ment to be made of 78 1/2c per
bushel. will make a total of
$3.63 1/2c per bushel, which is
71 1/2c per bushel lower than
the total for the previous crop
which was $4.35 per bushel.
Mr. Kleiman pointed out that
the drop in price mainly reflects
the lower export price for
wheat on world markets com-
pared to those experienced
during the previous crop year.
The board chairman also
advised that the annual meeting
of Ontario wheat producers has
been set for October 25th in
London, and that a notice of
that meeting and the board's
annual report and financial
statement will be mailed to
producers during the second
week of October.

Treat yourself to Ont. grapes
Ontario continues to establish
itself as a producer of grapes, not
only for the wine industry, but
also for table use. Treat yourself
to one of the many varieties that
are suitable for table use, grape
juice, home preserves, freezing,
and even baking.
Himrod—A delicious white
seedless table grape which has a
very short growing season and is
just making its debut in Ontario
markets. Depending on the
weather, it is available around
the end of August and through the
first half of September.
Fredonia—A blue grape
available through September. It
is excellent for freezing, to be
used later in pies, cobblers, jam,
juice, and other recipes.
Niagara—A white grape that
has long been used for wines, it is
also enjoyed as a table grape by
those who like a tart but sweet
grape. Look for this grape
through the latter part of Sep-
tember.
Concord—The famous blue
grape which first brought at-
tention to the Ontario grape in-
dustry is excellent for juice and
jams, and for freezing to be used
later in pies, cobblers and other
desserts. The Concord grape is
available from the end of Sep-
tember to mid-October. It offers
the best color and flavor for
cooking.
Agawam—A red grape that is
available through most of
October, it is used for making red
grape juice as well as for eating
as a fresh grape. It has a tart but
sweet flavor and a rather thick
skin.
