citizens building is under construction at the east end of Zurich.
Fall is the time to
protect your lawn
Fall is the time to protect
your lawn from the winter,
according to John Bradshaw's
Lawn and Garden Guide.
Mr. Bradshaw is well known
through his radio program on
home garden care and his
extensive writings. The year-
round lawn and garden guide,
prepared for Canadian Indust-
ries Limited, is available free
from CIL lawn and garden
products dealers.
As the sun gets low in the
sky, it stimulates grass to store
up food for winter, Mr. Brad-
shaw explains, so feed your
lawn.
Grass left unfed • becomes
weak and easy prey for snow -
mold and winter -kill. The wrong
kind of plant food (too much
nitrogen, for example) can
aggravate the problem by leav-
ing grass tender, Mr. Brad-
shaw points out.
CIL Winterizer, specially
developed by CIL, feeds the
grass and conditions it against
frost damage and fungus
attack. It also stimulates grass
to form new roots and to store
food for winter. Apply at
10 lb./1,000 sq. ft. in late
September or October, and
water it generously at once,
Mr. Bradshaw advises.
This specialized Winterizer
feeding also helps change the
plant cell fluid make-up so
the plant can withstand the
winter freeze/thaw problems.
If weeds persist in the lawn
into September, apply CIL
Winterizer/Weeder to control
them and protect your lawn
against over -wintering prob-
lems.

Residence for
senior citizens
John Lyndon, housing mana-
ger of the newly formed Huron
Housing Authority, reported
to the first meeting of the auth-
ority last week that a 20 unit
senior citizens building had
been proposed for Zurich. He
was almost correct. In fact, the
building has not only been pro-
posed, it is presently being
constructed.
The 20 unit building is locat-
ed just across from the com-
munity centre playground at
the east end of Zurich and the
walls of the units are slowly
rising.
The building is a provincial;
project under Ontario Housing
and the village itself has no-
thing to do with its financing
according to clerk Betty Oke.
The rents are on a sliding
scale greared to income_.basis,
but even those with a yearly
income of $8,000 are eligible for
acceptance into the units.
