The pumps are used on referral from a doctor, usually adult. emphysema patients. Asthma week will be observed in Ontario from October 3-9. Mrs. Dodds said the special camp for children with asthma held from June 27 to July 3 at Camp Bimini at RR 2 St. Pauls was an unqualified success. There were 37 children from five counties, Perth, Huron, Oxford, Waterloo and Brant, aged 8-14 years. The special camp was the first of its kind in Ontario. Mrs. Beryl Dunsmore, Executive Secretary of the Association, reported that almost none of the children had ever been at camp before and their parents wrote excellent com- ments on the psychological and physical improvement in the children. Milk quotas (continued from page 1) restore confidence in our dairy industry and alleviate some of the hardships our producers have been experiencing over the last few months," Mr. Newman said. "It appears now that the quota cutbacks have been too severe and recent projections would indicate that this addi- tional amount of industrial milk will be needed to meet domes- tic demands." Because of quota cutbacks, many Ontario milk producers have suffered severe losses of income and have had to reduce their herd size. Others have gone out of business. "You can't turn a cow off and on like a tap," Mr. Newman said. "By bringing more quota into the system our farmers can phase down their produc- tion so they are better able to cope with the over -supply situa- tion. The extra industrial milk quota will give producers an additional pbriod of time to hake the necessary adjust- ments in their farm opera- tions, Mr, Newman said A pulmonary care "76", a two- day seminar for nurses, will be held in London November 19 and 20. Mrs. Edith Fisher said registration is $25 for two days or $15 for one day at the Seminar. Ivan Forsyth, of Egmondville, said volunteers are now busy stuffing envelopes in preparation for the 1976 Christmas Seal Program. The meeting was attended by 10 members from Perth and Huron counties. In a close vote, council de- feated Clinton Reeve Harold Lobb's motion for a private members' bill to amend the Ontario Municipal Act, which would result in nine deputy reeves being dropped from council's 45 -member roster. The motion was tabled at the June session and sent back to council's local government stu- dy committee for more work. Under Mr. • Lobb's scheme, the county's 26 municipalities would each be represented by a reeve, but only those with 2,000 or more electors would have deputy reeves on council. A municipality with between 4,000 and 6,000 voters would be given an extra vote to be cast by the reeve. The deputy reeve would get a second vote if there were more than 6,000 voters. Only 1,000 electors are now needed for a municipality's deputy reeve to be on coun- cil, and 2,000 are needed to give the reeve a second vote. An earlier attempt to raise the required number of voters to 2,500 before including a deputy reeve was defeated at the June session_. That would have reduced council to 29 members. Either change would have meant an amendment to Sec- tion 27 (a) of the Municipal Act. - Mr. Lobb said the change was necessary because of the county's growth. "Many municipalities are growing," he said, "and soon you're going to have more de- puty reeves in here. There's probably going to be six or seven new deputies over the next six or seven years and this council chamber will be too small." Stephen Township Reeve Cecil Desjardine said the mo- tion was "trying to change something that is working fine." Mr. Lobb did not ask for a roll call vote and the motion was defeated on a show of hands. ROBERT WESTLAKE INSURANCE Specializing in GENERAL INSURANCE 236-4391 ZURICH J.E.
