Womens Institute
The first meeting for the fall
of the Dashwood W.I. was held
Tuesday, September 7, with
the Citizenship and World
Affairs group in charge and
Mrs. Emil Becker, convener.
The roll call was answered by
naming your choice vegetable
in its favourite form. Mrs. Ray
Rader, president, dealt with the
business. The fall rally will be
held in Dashwood, Monday,
October 4, with registration
at 9:30 a.m. Delegates are
Mrs. Stuart Wolfe and Mrs.
Syd Baker.
Bridal Shower
Kathy Wells, bride -elect of
October, was honoured at a
linen shower at the home of
Mrs. Harry Hayter when aunts
of the groom were hostesses
for relatives and friends of
the groom. Following games,
Jennifer Hayter and Susan
Baynham presented the gifts
and Kathy was assisted in
opening them by Susan Guen-
ther. She graciously thanked
all.

The Cereal Shelf
next 4-H project
The 4-H project for the fall
is The Cereal Shelf and the
training school will be held
September 13 and 14 in Exeter.
Those attending from Dash-
wood are Mrs. Gordon Bender
and Pat; Mrs. Ray Rader and
Mrs. Earl Keller; Mrs. Delmar
Miller and Mrs. Robert Green.
It was decided to cater to the
Men's Club Suppers.
Mrs. Becker was chairlady
for the program. A trip to Exe-
ter Canning Factory had to be
postponed so the ladies played
Garden Bingo with products
from members gardens as
prizes.
Get increase in
OIdAge pension
Increases in the Old Age
Security pension, Guaranteed
Income Supplement and
Spouse's Allowance, effective
in October, 1976, were an-
nounced today by Health and
Welfare Minister Marc La-
londe.
Increases in Old Age Security
pension and Guaranteed In-
come Supplement payments
represent the twelth , quarterly
escalation based on the cost of
living, as provided for in the
Old Age,Security Act.
The new monthly total at
the single rate for persons
receiving both the basic Old
Age Security pension and maxi-
mum Guaranteed Income Sup-
plement will be $237.15. '
For a married couple, both
pensioners, the combination
of the basic pension and maxi-
mum supplement will provide
a payment of $452.40 for the
couple monthly.
The basic Old Age Security
pension will rise in October to
$139.39 from the present
$137.06.
The Guaranteed Income Sup-
plement is paid to pensioners
whose income, apart from the
Old Age Security pension, is
limited. The amount of the
supplement varies in relation
to the amount of income.
The maximum Guaranteed
Income Supplement for a single
person, or a married person
whose spouse is not a pension-
er and is not receiving a
Spouse's Allowance, will go
up in October to $97.76 from
its current $96.13. The maxi-
mum supplement for a married
couple, both pensioners, will
increase to $86.81 each from
$85.36. Added to the basic
pension, this will give each
married pensioner $226.20
monthly, or a total of $452.40
for the couple.
The Spouse's Allowance is
paid to persons between 60 and
65 years of age who are mar-
ried to Old Age Security pen-
sioners and meet residence
requirements. Entitlement to
a Spouse's Allowance, and
amount paid, is based on
yearly income.
The maximum Spouse's Al-
lowance will increase to $226.20
from $222.42. The maximum
Spouse's Allowance is made up'
of an amount equivalent to
the basic Old Age Security
pension and the maximum
Guaranteed Income Supple-
ment at the married rate.

Lutheran Ladies
Aid meets
Zion. Lutheran Ladies' Aid
held their September meeting
Wednesday, September 8, with
group 2 and co -conveners, Mrs.
Chas. Martene and Mrs. Ray
Rader' in charge of Devotions
and lunch.
Mrs, Arnold Becker, presid-
ent, opened the meeting with a
hymn and scripture reading
followed by a prayer by Pastor
M. Mellecke. Twenty-three
members and one visitor were
present, The bakeless bake
sale was a great success. Re-
ports from the Altar Guilds
during the summer months
showed they had been very
busy. The new Guild is Mrs.
Lorne Genttner and Mrs.
Esther Salmon.
Mrs. Becker thanked all who
had helped at the parsonage
and the pot luck supper. Group
3 will be in charge of the Ladies'
Aid fowl supper and will also
serve lunch at a wedding
reception.
Pastor Mellecke was called
upon and he answered quest-
ions from the ladies regarding
his former charges and his
family.
Mrs. Chas. Martene had
closing Devotions, reading
Psalm 102 followed by a medita-
tion, "No Shortage Here."
Everyone joined in repeating
"The Lord's Prayer."
