The most popular of the craft items proved to be the wooden carved toys which the trainees make so well, They vary from turtles to school buses to cars to log trucks complete with six logs which can be loaded and un- loaded at will. All the toys have rounded corners and are so smoothly finished there is no chance of children picking up slivers or harming themselves on sharp points. These toys are reasonable priced which also added to their popularity. The trainees also had a table of baking they made themselves which was sold very quickly much to their pleasure. However, they were kept busy the remain- der of the day serving coffee, juice and fruit bread to their visitors as well as giving guided tours around the building. Parents of the trainees also do- nated a good deal of baking and time helping trainees make cor- rect change and keeping things moving. CRAFT SALE A LEARNING EXPERIENCE—The trainees at Arc Industries put on a craft and bake sale last Wednesday which not only raised money for the industries but was a learning experience for the trainees. "Our men do not wear Hydro uniforms," says J.A. Dicker, manager of electrical inspection, "but each inspector does carry an identification card with his name, signature, employee num- ber and photo." Ontario Hydro is responsible for the inspection of all new electric wiring and electrical appliance installations through- out the province, including muni- cipalities served by local Hydro systems. "When our employees visit a home they are there either to inspect a specific installation of equipment or at the request of the Fire Marshal's office, local fire department or municipal officials and," Mr. Dicker adds, "they always carry proper identi- fication."
