Progress on Thorrison history
A short business meeting was
held with Norm Stanlake
presiding and he warmly
welcomed all present.
A minute's silence was held in
respectful memory, of two older
members, Robert Thomson,
Kippen, and Wellington Good,
Blyth, who had passed on during
the past year.
A letter of greetings "to the
Thomson cousins" from Eleanor
Fisher and Hazel Chavice of
Winnipeg was read following 'the
minutes of the last meeting by
secretary Mary Parsons.
Hannah Miller gave a report of
the progress made with the
history of the Thomson's and
asked for any suggestions after
being shown the sample of the
beginning. She and her helpers
have done well in the research
and are looking forward to next
year.

A MINIATURE VILLAGE—The Zurich Business association put together a float depicting their Bus-
Inesaea within the village. Several local Children dressed up to represent the individual businesses and

storm damage slight
Friday night's rain and wind
storm did not do extensive crop
damage in the Zurich area
according to Mike Miller from the
Agricultural office in Clinton,
but it certainly didn't help
growing conditions.
There is some flooding damage
thanks to the excess amount of
rain we have received in the past
few weeks but this is variable
over the area. The bean crop
is the most sensitive to excess
amounts of water present around
its roots according to Mr. Miller.
Wright reunion
Sunday, July 18, descendants of
the Wright clan met at Kirkton-
Woodham Community Centre.
Those from a distance included
Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Bloomfield,
Windsor, .Mr. & 'Mrs. Joe Horn,
Leamington, Mr. & Mrs. Murray
Wright, Kingsville, Mr. & Mrs.
Gordon Wright, Mansfield, and
Mr. & Mrs. Alexander` Wright,
Grace and Wesley from Toronto.
A bountiful dinner was enjoyed
by everyone.
The 1977 Wright reunion will be
held in Kirkton again, the second
Sunday in July with Lorne Ross
as president and Laurabelle
Reichert, secretary.
"Beans don't like water around
their roots and if it remains
for a few hours the beans will
start to yellow. After •a day or
so they will die if the water is not
removed."
Corn is more tolerent of water
around its roots but it did suffer
some wind damage in the storm.
Excess rain has kept the ground
soft allowing the wind to more
easily push the corn over.
Further wet weather will de-
finitely widen the area damaged
so far.
"We really don't need any
more rain for a few weeks,
that's for sure."
